Leeds

I know a lot of you a) could give 2 sh*ts or b) think they deserve it, but I'm sorry to see Leeds drop out the Prem League today.

If only for the fact that they are a 'big' club and for every big club we lose from the PL, we get a Norwich or a Portsmouth.

So the big sale is on:-

Robinson -> Villa or Spurs (if the agreement still stands)
Viduka -> 'Boro?
Smith -> Newcastle
Milner -> Villa?

I can also see Bakke, Harte, Duberry, McPhail and Matteo leaving and I cannot see Eddie Gray sticking around either. What a job that is for who-ever comes in. Strachan I reckon?

Ok, so now Villa are showing that they aren't bad, but IMHO, Robinson is better than Villa. I think Arsenal or Man U should have signed him last year instead of Lehman or Howard, and had they done so, Robbo would be England's number one.

Villa have a good goalie allready in Sorenson. I think robinson will go spurs as they were close to signing him in january.
Smith- Newcastle
Viduka-Abroad somewhere or Boro
Others to leave Pennent back to arsenal , Bridges and Mills

Lots of players will be brought(on frees) and sold and i think with them losing many of their players in the summer, they will find it hard in div 1 compared to teams like wolves and leicester who are more used to div 1 and will not lose as many players.

Im sorry to see Leeds go down, buts its their own fault even with their financal problems they still had good enough players to stay up e.g a first 11 of:Robinson,Harte,Kelly,Dubbery,Radebe,Pennant,Matteo,bakke,milner,smith and viduka thats a pretty good team

They had long enough to get out of the relegation zone's and didnt so it's there own fault. cheerio leeds

I've got a sneaky feeling of Smith ending up at Arsenal.

I agree with you Chadded about Robinson though. I can't see why he's probably going to end up at somewhere like Spurs when he's clearly better than that. Why he's not picked ahead of James for England, I don't know!

I've got a feeling that both Smith and Robbo could be off to Arsenal. The signing of Van Persie and Reyes dont look great but i also thought that about Freddie etc .... It seems as if Kanu and Wiltord are off so Smith would be a great replacement and can add to their disciplinary 'record'

And ya right, Paul, i couldn't really give a sh*t but i know you and Steve do ...

I've not spoken to my mum yet today but I bet she's gutted.

Alan Smith will NOT be anywhere near as good anywhere else as he is at Leeds, his game relies on a passion and will to win that he will not have for any other club than Leeds.

Robinson is the best English goalkeeper anywhere at the moment, even with David James in a rich vein of form....

Most of the rest of Leeds players (Milner and a couple of others excluded) have proved this season that they really couldn't give a sh*t, good luck to whoever signs them....

I found it a little weird Smith saying that he'd like to play for Leeds when they return to the Premiership. a) why doesn't he take a wage cut and play for Leeds in Division 1, and bring them back himself. Besides he's not really challenging for an England place right now, so a year in the 1st Division shouldn't harm his case. b) how exactly does he think that he can go elsewhere and then come back in a year or longer? Leeds are looking to cash in on him, and they will probably not have the money to buy him back, unless an Abramovich type comes in for Leeds.

Any little respect I had for Mark Viduka was lost yesterday. He scores the goal, and becomes a hero. He then foolishly gets himself sent off in possibly the most important game of Leeds' history, an absolute mug. Getting his just deserves in the papers this morning.

I didn't want to see Leeds go down, and thought that they would make it out, but unfortunately I don't see them coming back up for a couple of seasons.

Van Persie hasn't played yet so don't know what you're on about there.

Reyes has already shown a lot of promise - just wait until he has properly settled in to life in England and watch the little gippo go.

I said it doesn't look great. Sorry for my opinion there. I just think that they are going down the route Man Utd are by using young, fairly in-experienced players (Bellion, Fletcher). This French tw*t has let Upson go and bought Cygan, has Pennant at his disposal - but doesn't use him, and plays some German twonk in goal when Taylor is up to the job IMO.

As for Reyes - we'll see ...

Handbags! I'm not denying your right to an opinion, merely suggesting that van Persie probably deserves a chance before we judge him. He could be great, he could be toilet. Having never seen him play, I'm not going to comment on him.

I agree with you on the Taylor/Lehmann and Upson/Cygan comments totally - I just didn't understand those decisions.

Reyes has proved his class in La Liga and I'm sure he will in the Prem too.

Leeds went for glory, mortgaged their whole future to sign the players to get it and the gamble failed. I don't recall Leeds fans at the time moaning that Peter Ridsdale and his board shouldn't be spending all that money on Rio Ferdinand and company - in fact if I remember correctly he was very popular for doing it.

So them's the breaks - and it will get worse as I feel they are the new Sheffield Wednesday (a trip to Elland Road in Div 2 the season after next?)

If Leeds United are clever getting relegated is the best thing they could have done. They can sell all their big name players without the fans kicking up too much of a fuss, if marketed cleverly they can get good prices for the likes of Smith/Viduka/Robinson thus clearing large chunks or debt and removing their wages from the budget.

Then they will have to replace these with cheap but good players and make a promotion bid. My gut feeling is if they'd have stayed up they'd have gone bust whereas going down will probably allow them the ability to balance the books.

I suggest Leeds take 7 million now whilst they can. Lets face it they need to get rid of there high earners and everyone knows that they are in a high level of debt.

As soon as you enter division 1 teams think then can offer significantly lower prices and besically I think 7 million will be about as good as they are going to get for smith. His temper and attitude need to be chilled and I think that may well put the top teams off. I honestly think that is why the top clubs didn't come in for Defoe because he got far too many bookings.

They are in so much debt that i really cannot see them coming straight back up no matter how big there fan base is I think they are going to have a great struggle and if they don't do it first time round they will be a potential Wimbledon of the league...

Don't like the dirty leeds personally but would have taken much more pleasure from seeing Spurs get relegated...

b******s, I agree Taylor is up the job though but Upson never really showed his full talent until he moved to Brum.

Those French twonks are now some of the best players in the world thanx to Wenger. Don't knock a winning formula.

There's me slagging off Reyes and he goes and scores. Ha. Still missed a few sitters and ol' Terry doesn't seem too happy with him at times. Mind you, he's better than that lanky tw*t Kanu.

How on earth Kanu is playing in the Premiership, let alone the champions is a joke. He has been nothing short of embarrassing for 2/3 years now and I honestly believe he is the worst top-flight player I think I've seen.

The best bit was that the 'A team' were talking about how Prem clubs would be after him ... and then he spoons one 15 yards wide. Classic.
