Leeds away

When I was living in the frozen North I used to go to Elland Road a lot. I like the ground and like most places you get the scum and salt of rhe earth as a mix.

I'm going up and will make a weekend of it with an overnight in the city.

You are spot.

I lived nearby & part of my family were from Leeds. Despite the image that is portrayed about Leeds fans, they have their fair proportion of d!ckheads as we have. Remember Palace & QPR?? Whatever excuse was given then can be applied to Leeds fans.

On the positive side, you will not have a better night out anywhere, whether its pubs, clubs, restaurants etc you will have a great time. Just remember Jonathon Woodgate is back in the country & nearby, so avoid Majestyks!!

Theres a pub called the Commercial which is a 10-15 minute walk to the ground. Its a bit tatty, but well worth staying at. Why??? Its owned & run by Peter Lorimer! He's a realy nice bloke & has a few faces in there as well. I met the late great John Charles in there & Matthew Harding, who was a (insert naughty word, but I won't speak ill of the dead)

Also the Queens Hotel right by the railway station if you want something a bit better. If you look on the net, you can usually get a decent weekend deal, which includes hotel & club. Well worth the legwork to get a bargain.

Always had a good night out in Leeds.

One tip would probably be get out of Majestik at around 1 because there's only trouble staying past then. In fact, tip two would be avoid Majestik altogether because it really ain't too special.

As we are now in the Carling Cup 3rd round which is due to be played on the Mon/Tue/Weds before the Leeds game, depending on the draw this might have an effect on the number of people that will go to Leeds away.

Look at the poll, most people working or students will go to the Sat league game still, the only consequence of the cup draw is it will lessen the number that go on the Tuesday night!

I wrote that before we were drawn to Leeds away. If we had been drawn away to Man United, Arsenal etc it would have had an impact on the amount we would have taken to Leeds in the league match. But as you say and I agree, it will have little impact as most people have already made their minds up that they were going to go to Leeds on the Saturday anyway.

Although I must say that I was originally going to the league match, but due to costs etc. I might only go to the cup game
