LDV Final.... who do we want there.

Not only is automatic promotion out the window, it looks a good bet that Oldham will take ur place in the plays off and you'll be left in League 1 still two divisions higher than where you should be.

Utter crap.
We are in a much better position inj the league than Swansea.

P.s Thefinal is the same weekend as Essex's finest v Brentford.
That's it, you keep relying on those games in hand. You never know, you might even score in one of them. How many minutes since your last league goal is it now?

But unfortunately like Parkinson, very deluded...

col u, almost pi$$ed myself with this one.  We both know that after a decent start your team is now a shambles with confidence shot to pieces.  It's not looking good for you, but it is looking very good for Oldham though.

ONE TEAM IN ESSEX, THERES ONLY ONE TEAM IN ESSEX, ONE TEAM IN ESSEX

UP THE SHRIMPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, col u, your constant drivel always makes me chuckle.

At least posters like Col******r & Proud and Tr0ublegum are realistic....

Enjoy league 1 next season.

Don't car ewho wins tonight so long as it goes to extra time as Swansea have a game friday against Brentford and Col U play 3 games again next week.
Not worried if Brentford keep winning its the gap between us, Brentford and the Play-off position we want to see get bigger. Would be great to win title but second place would do me, just as long as we avoid the bloody play-offs!

Surely if it is a Col u -v- Carlisle final the organisers would save money by playing at ninian park as there is no way the 2 teams could muster 15,000 between them

Swans all the way for me. I'm hoping for the second leg to be a 1-0 win for the Scum, then for it to go all the way to penalties and Swans win 23-22, Chris Iwelumo missing the crucial spot kick.

hmmm

If the Final would mean Col U - Brentford being postponed would we be better off with Col U making the final and hoping the potential fixture pile up for Brentford causes problems ?
11 games in 8 weeks with one weekend out of the equation , may do us a favour ?

Carlisle have a pretty large fan base, so I reckon they'd take 15,000 at least even though it's a fair distance, so the attendance would probably be something like 22,000.

You never know, they may drag all those glory hunters who went to Chelsea out again

colu... I know it's painful reading, but let's look at your league form over the last 5 games:

P W D L F A Pts PPG
5 0 1 4 0 7 1 0.2

Games in hand mean nothing if you can't even find the back of the net. With Iwelumo struggling for fitness, Kem Izzet getting himself sent off, Davison conceding late goals... I'm afraid the only person you're still kidding is yourself.

At this rate, the Ewes will do well to fight off Oldham's challenge for your berth in the playoffs. Part of me is saddened that you've become victims of your own success - two games a week at this stage of the season is invariably disastrous to a promotion challenge. We should know - it's exactly what happened to us last year.

Having learnt from that experience, we conveniently lost to Rushden (!) in the first round of the LDV, exited the Cup when at the bottom of our form in early December, and then promptly devoted 100% of our energies to the league. Looks like Tilly got that one spot on.

As for the Ewes, you've got Swansea tonight. If you fail to get through to the Final, Parky then has only got 4 days in which to lift your players and inspire them to beat Swindon at home, no easy task since Jamie Cureton knows all about you (and the Robins beat you when you were sailing high in December).

That is an absolutely must-win game for you, since you then face the following extremely tricky run:

21-Mar-06 A Doncaster Rovers
25-Mar-06 A Scunthorpe United
01-Apr-06 H Brentford
08-Apr-06 A Nottingham Forest
15-Apr-06 A Chesterfield

4 away games in 5, at some of the trickiest away grounds in the league... oh, and Brentford sandwiched in between, the second best away side in the league after us, and in rich form themselves.

This week will make or break your season. Two draws or defeats, and you'll be fighting for your lives just to stay in the playoffs. Two victories, and maybe you'll kick-start your promotion campaign again. That would be great - two Essex sides in the Championship would be superb, and besides, we could do with the six points again next season...

Good luck this week. You will really need it.

Oh, and get a grip. Six points, six goals, top of the league and crowds more than twice the size of yours. There is no doubt whatsoever as to which side is Essex's finest: and that is Southend United.

You mug.

I want Swansea on the basis that I dont want Col U to make any more money than they need too.......Still hate the Swans too so its a non brainer....

Matt, you are too much of a gentleman.
My reply would be "Your season is over , your form is rubbish and we don't like you. Go away "

The loser is both Col Ewes & Brentford if Col Ewe reach the final, as they would have to find a date to play a important game, if Southend win on April 1st, both team would lose ground on us.

Whoever lose tonight will take some time to recover the fact that they miss out on a final at Cardiff & a chance to win the Trophy as they get Carlisle in final.

The winner is Southend Utd FC

It's a fair point, Ken.  However, if both of us were to be promoted, at least (a) we wouldn't have the worst ground in the division above; and (b) we could count on getting at least six points next season...
