Utter crap.
We are in a much better position inj the league than Swansea.
P.s Thefinal is the same weekend as Essex's finest v Brentford.
colu... I know it's painful reading, but let's look at your league form over the last 5 games:
P W D L F A Pts PPG
5 0 1 4 0 7 1 0.2
Games in hand mean nothing if you can't even find the back of the net. With Iwelumo struggling for fitness, Kem Izzet getting himself sent off, Davison conceding late goals... I'm afraid the only person you're still kidding is yourself.
At this rate, the Ewes will do well to fight off Oldham's challenge for your berth in the playoffs. Part of me is saddened that you've become victims of your own success - two games a week at this stage of the season is invariably disastrous to a promotion challenge. We should know - it's exactly what happened to us last year.
Having learnt from that experience, we conveniently lost to Rushden (!) in the first round of the LDV, exited the Cup when at the bottom of our form in early December, and then promptly devoted 100% of our energies to the league. Looks like Tilly got that one spot on.
As for the Ewes, you've got Swansea tonight. If you fail to get through to the Final, Parky then has only got 4 days in which to lift your players and inspire them to beat Swindon at home, no easy task since Jamie Cureton knows all about you (and the Robins beat you when you were sailing high in December).
That is an absolutely must-win game for you, since you then face the following extremely tricky run:
21-Mar-06 A Doncaster Rovers
25-Mar-06 A Scunthorpe United
01-Apr-06 H Brentford
08-Apr-06 A Nottingham Forest
15-Apr-06 A Chesterfield
4 away games in 5, at some of the trickiest away grounds in the league... oh, and Brentford sandwiched in between, the second best away side in the league after us, and in rich form themselves.
This week will make or break your season. Two draws or defeats, and you'll be fighting for your lives just to stay in the playoffs. Two victories, and maybe you'll kick-start your promotion campaign again. That would be great - two Essex sides in the Championship would be superb, and besides, we could do with the six points again next season...
Good luck this week. You will really need it.
