lay off tilly

tilly lost 2 excellent players in bailey and gower which was a hammer blow to the team, furthermore he then lost his 2 best forwards in barney and dougie.

we are only a small club which simply cannot replace/entice the players that have left or been injured.

i for one would be content to remain in this division.

Exactly right, I said that last season should be one of consolidation, and as it turned out we struck lucky and completely over-achieved. It was never going to happen again this season.

Have to take the rough with the smooth Im afraid. No point in shouting and hollering for heads to roll because of a poor run of form. Sack the manager and what will happen? Same players, same money, same board, same fans etc. You can only work with what you have.:)
If they win the next 7 then there will be callings for sainthoods Im sure.;)

Saying he hasnt had a lot of resources, when we have used more players than ever before yet still are able to send 4 players out on loan, get 2 wingers in on loan before the deadline day (one of whom has seemingly gone AWOL). He has had resources, just hasnt used them correctly, top heavy with attacking players and not enough defensive ones.

Tilly was giving out awards at my sons footy club this morning at 11:30 after getting back from Hartlepool at 4:30. He was then driving straight up to Northampton to look at our Boxing Day opponents. So don't doubt his commitment or dedication to the cause. He is a top bloke and one of the most successful Southend managers ever.

In my view he is suffering from a poor run in the transfer market, letting quality players leave without replacements (Eastwood, Gower, JCR etc) and over reliance on loan players. Hopefully he can sort this out in January.

I do still believe Tilly needs to be stronger and when we're clearly lacking on the pitch I just think he needs to show a sterner side.

The fact that the players are currently in Bournemouth ****ed already and are there until Monday thanks to the club paying for them to be there at a time when they're not doing their job well has not impressed me too much. If I were Tilly I'd have cancelled it and told them to concentrate on their football.

here here....you tell me last player he had funds available to spend on the team ! ginger minger bailey....all money is swallowed up into the stadium !

and no one can argue with retrospective fore sight but i dont conspire to the 'over achieving' and 'little club' train of thought. Why wasn't it going to happen again this year? Do you know something i dont? Within this division we are one of the bigger clubs and have been for a few seasons now so why shouldn't we expect to be challenging? I dont really expect you to know the answers to these questions but just dont understand the air of resignation that is put forward as an arguement on here.

It was never going to happen this season because of the changes in key personnel that occurred, and also, in my opinion, because of the additional arrival of certain clubs in the division with far better financial support.

And with all the changes it would have been a miracle had they gelled together into a unit capable of making & sustaining a challenge.

Now is the time for home supporters to do what it says on the tin.

Now is the time for home support to take a leaf out of the spirit of travelling supporters spirit and vocal encouragement.

Lets here the Roots Hall Roar on Boxing Day.
