MK terrorised full backs in the prem and championship playing ON THE RIGHT FLANK !!!!!!!!!!!....Phil has him playing left wing and yesterday centre mid.....its effing mental Brown, stop messing our best player about.

Mind you the channels look like a pototoe field....why sign him for 3 years and not play him where his success was, yesterday he looked lost....shame.

Injuries forced Leonard to CB , making Kightly the only viable option in CM ( where he has played in those higher Leagues you mention ).
So IMO , no conspiracy here and no need for another Brown dig.

Mrs Blue has a fair point, he's not been played on the right at all. He's covered the left while McLaughlin has been unavailable through injury, and, to be fair, McGlashan has been one of our better players and he's been on the right. I think, now McLaughlin is fit (and wasn't too roughed up yesterday after a succession of bad challenges) that Brown will have to re-think things and use McGlashan where he is most effective and that's as an impact sub running at tired defences, which would allow Kightly back on to his favoured right side.

Exactly OBL.

Kights is very decent and will cause opposing full backs plenty of trouble, when playing LW he has to try and get the ball onto his favoured foot...bit like if we signed a big forward then stuck him in goal.

Kights playing RW can skin the FB and send the cross in with ease,he will draw fouls in dangerous areas, not forgetting drawing yellows and potential red cards from the FB.

Phil is wasting Kights talent IMO.

McGlashan has been one of our better players this season so you should not drop them. That send out the wrong message to everyone. It's like suggesting White be dropped as soon as our other center backs are available.

I can't question the facts that his work rate and enthusiasm have been second to none. He has tracked back and defended as best he can as well. Where I do have issues is with his final product when attacking. Too often he goes past a full back like greased ****, but the ball isn't always with him. Similarly, his crossing doesn't carry the threat of the rest of his game. Don't get me wrong, I really like the guy, but I'm inclined to OBL's view that he is at his most potent when used as an impact sub. As for Kightly, (not in response to anything you have said Westy) he's going to have to play where the manager needs him for the moment, along with most of the team who are playing out of their normal positions.

McGlashan has been one of our better players and to relegate him to the bench just because McLaughlin's fit again would be harsh. I haven't seen enough from him to say he deserves to be there over McGlashan or Kightly for that matter.

If they both want to play on the right, I'd rotate the two throughout a game. Whoever gives me the most in return starts on the right, and if their standards drop - rotate. It's a fair way to create competition.

McGlashan has achieved nothing -he looks good controlling the ball and running fast but:

He can only run in a straight line
he doesn't get into goal scoring positions
his crosses have been woeful usually straight at a defender
his shooting from distance is woeful either high and wide or straight at a defender
he has no subtlety in his movement or ball skills
he rarely stays on his feet when he tackles
he has only scored 8 times in the last 3 years

Kightly is Brown's biggest signing - he said so himself - so he must be getting completely hacked off being played out of position all the time on a ploughed field of a pitch. He will also get goals if allowed into the box as he has already shown.

Brown should have changed it and put him back on the wing when they went down to ten men.

I like McGlashan, I honestly do, and he's been great so far, especially the first game of the season against Blackburn. We have three good wingers, and it's just that I would be put him bottom of those three.

Think people read too much into the team sheet formation. Mcglash and Knightly have been changing sides throughout the match.

I think Glash is a better player than Stephen Mc, Glash has done far more and opens teams up, people are quick to condemn him on this thread, makes me chuckle. But Glash needs to find another position quickly because if its a clash between Kights and him then he's back on the bench. Glash and Kights imo are our best two wingers, but its the least of our problems frankly.

if msglashan was good at all these he wouldn't be in league one would he.....expectations are too high sometimes... look at all those who wanted championship football.... we would be getting spanked each week...

To be honest I think McLaughlin has been hugely disappointing since he returned from his ankle injury last season. Hasn't been the same player since. Hope he can rediscover some form.

Part of a wingers role in any division is to be able to put a cross in. McGlashan could not do that yesterday, balls kept going out of play or nowhere near any of our men. If you can't do that you need to rethink your game. I like McGlashan but he is an impact sub in reality

When McClaughlin gets fully match fit, he will reclaim his position on the left and Kightly will be back on the right. This won't be for another week or two, and it's up to McGlashan to get some end product to his game to stop that happening.

Exactly. With you and I sitting near each other in the South Upper, I think we got our heads closer to some of those crosses than our forward line.

As for the original post, is it really that hard to see that Kightly moved into the middle as our best option once Leonard dropped back, while McGlashan and Kights swap wings throughout every game no matter where they are pencilled in?

But never put one chance away ?
I know it's early season , but really disappointed with the SBH / DWB combination up front.
It's clearly not working ....

It would be nice if he could do 2 or 3 of them though on a regular basis.

I want my best player playing to his strengths....which in Kights case is RW skinning the FB and delivering it into the box,Glash is ok but has zero end product which is pointless if your forwards have sprinted 50 yards to get into the box in expectation of the ball coming in their general direction....Kights IMO is not being used to his strength which asks the question why sign him in the first place...playing out of position he has already scored twice...wonder how many it could be playing RW.
