Kids at home - keep?

when I lived at home (26 years ago) I gave £100 per month... when I left home I got nothing, but did realise after the first 6 months of owning my own house how cheap that £100 a month was.

Not lived at home for tweny plus years, but the deal was something like a fiver a week of which my grey haired old mother had to provide me with 8 cans of Breaker and 5 packs of players no 6, the rest she ******* up the bingo.

My dad used the same rule of thumb as had been applied to him, and it always seemed fair, even if it was more than most of my friends - one third of your net wages, increases included.

Same with me, a third of my wages went to my parents (that was £120 per month in 1985 rising to around £200 per month when i left home in 1991) It seemed a hell of a lot of money at the time, but when i moved out and had to start paying mortgage and bills which proved to be only around £250 per month its wasnt much of a culture shock whereas my friends who were paying £50 per month had a huge shock and had to curtail their social lives more than i did.........

I didnt pay anything when I was at home, even though I was in full time education and had a part time job.

I paid them back with my love :) ;)
