Kevin Maher

I think we should get rid of Maher, Constantine and Gower, we don't want good players at this club, lets keep with tradition and sign some rubbish ones to replace them. We could sign 6 mediocre non-league players with the money we'd save.

Strikers who score goals? No thank you.

Not sure people are saying we would miss him though, Spiff - which is what I find a bit strange.  It's almost an attitude of "don't really care if he goes, s'pose I won't mind if he stays..."

It's an attitude I find a trifle bizarre, that's all.  Like I said, I'm extremely reluctant to put too many eggs into the highly fragile basket of Mr. Jay Smith; and I'm not sure it's prudent to overburden the as-yet inexperienced shoulders of Mark Bentley (even if I think he's a brilliant signing, which I do).

I'd hardly call coming 17th in Divvy 3 not broke.

ps the 90/91 comparison was a joke.
C'mon Naps, is our league position anything other than a refelction of our horror-start under Wignall... which boasted, at one point, a home streak of P6 W0 D1 L5?

ok, good point...

Glad that someone agrees with me... I was beginning to think I was going a bit doolally...

Just because I agree with you Matt, doesn't mean you're not going doolally! Quite the opposite in fact!

I just can't believe people are so non-plussed about 2 of our best 3 players this season (by a country mile and a half) leaving.

reverse psychology, innit. Give the impression you don't care, and they will stay to prove you wrong. Chant Dreeeeewwwwwwwweeeeeeee at some PBB and he might start putting the ball away.

Don't worry Matt, there's at least 3 of us. Maher is one of the best players in this division. It's no surprise that opposing teams' fans pick him out time and again as being the player to watch.

Look at the reaction of the Hull fans when the rumour started that they were looking at him. IMO that kind of thing says it all.

That said, no one player is bigger than the team, and if he did leave we would have to grin, bare it and move on....

Er... we have Smith, Bentley and Pettefer already to name but three - they are all more than capable. If we could sign those three, we can manage another if necessary

You dont think Bentley, Pettefer or Smith are any good then? Fair enough... please offer an alternative view though other than just deriding other people's opinions

I think you'll find that the preferred form of abuse for Mr. Spiff is "you plank"...

I take it you all agree with Banksy that Pettefer, Jay Smith and Bentley are all sub-standard in the Third Division then - and that if Maher goes it will spell the end for our club as we couldn't possibly trust Tilly to sign anyone of any recognisable ability...

No far from it, it was however a joke I could not resist.

I think Pettefer, Smith and Bentley are more than capable of getting us out of this division, but I'd much rather Maher was also here, and I believe that Tilly could find someone as good or better, but why take a chance?

I'm agreeing with you far too much today for my liking, Steve...
