Kevin Betsy - "wants to end career at Wycombe"

In all the years I've been to Roots Hall, I struggle to think of a more non-descript player than Kevin Betsy. If someone asked me to describe in a nutshell what sort of player Kevin Betsy was, that description would be:

"Meh"

I barely noticed him when he was here, so I really can't pretend for a second I'll miss him. I'd wish him all the best at Wycombe, although I can't stop the nagging feeling that he is, in fact, ficticious, and that he doesn't really exist at all.

Hey ho.

Matt

Hardly, he's 31 and played 326 League games.

That's 326 games for 12 different clubs, none of which he has made as many as 80 league starts for. He stays a season, maybe a season and a half before his manager gets (a) sacked or (b) tired of the way Betsy occasionally pops up and puts in a good ball or two before swiftly disappearing once more....

Agreed, a good number of the clubs were loans ... but that's not what ephemeral means.

Even more surprising is that he has changed hands for a combined £430,000.

I was using ephemeral in the sense of something short-lived or transient. This applies to both his career where he has never really settled and become an established first team regular at any one club and more particularly (which is the reason why he's never done so) to his may-fly like tendencies in games when he'll pop up for a fleeting moment of action, flap about for a bit before fading out entirely.

Good luck to him. Not made the grade here at all in my opinion.

I'm sure this will be devastating news for some of you, but according to an interview on Wycombe's OS, he wants to see out his career there - a bit of money to change hands in January then we assume, and potentially one of the higher wage earners off the books.

I am not sure what he was on, but i have been told that we were paying part of his wages while he was on loan, i just hope he does not come back, not even for a penny a game, the guy was/is next to useless, if useless moves over then we would have trouble. UTB.

I reckon the Trust raised more at the Gillingham game than what we would get for him.

If we get £50,000 for Betsy, which i think is over generous, then i guarantee that Tilly will be told "OK, you got rid of one, now get rid of another", Tilly WILL NOT be given money to spend, we WILL NOT get players in, unless of course we get new blood and new money in. UTB

Wrong, one in today --- admittedly for only about 30 minutes.
