Keep the faith

Subject done to death but a response anyway...

1. He did ok when we got two promotions, and I believe is a better keeper now than then.

2. Collis was in goal against Dagenham and we still let in two.

3. Conceding late goals in most games shows a lack of confidence and nerves after all if it was down to a dodgy keeper we would concede goals all the time, not just at the end.

We need to solidify as a team and regain our confidence and stop playing with fear and nerves, not replace our keeper.

We could do with a natural goalscorer but the rest of the squad is good anough andas wolf1 rightly says, keep the faith...

OK:

1. He did do OK when we got 2 promotions, correct. The same problem was still there but the difference is that during our 2 promotions Flav's faults weren't (a) as evident or (b) as costly due to the fact we had a side that were scoring goals and winning games, thanks partly at least to a certain special player who we don't have anymore.

2. Collis was indeed in goal and we let in 2 against the Daggers - again though as I said before I don't believe Collis is the answer to our problems in the goalkeeping department either.

3. Conceding late goals does show a loss of concentration in the back 5 yes, however in terms of Flav's it's not like he's commanding for 85mins and then loses it is it......he isn't commanding at any stage of the game and that's a big problem. I'm not saying it's his fault as he's small in stature but plenty of small goalkeepers are at least half decent aerially, he needs to work on this area of his game (I don't see many faults elsewhere but this particular area is a HUGE problem and not just for him but the whole back line).

You say we need to solidify as a team and I agree, you say we need to stop playing in fear and that will come with a few wins under our belts which we are more than capable of. You say we don't need to change our keeper.....hmmmm, time will tell. All I will say though is that all the while Flav's is in there and NOT improving his game aerially we will continue to have the same problems just as we did with him last season and I'm only surprised Tilly is yet to realise this. If you take command of his box out of the equation Flav's is a great keeper......unfortunately command of your area is an ESSENTIAL part of any solid keeper's game.
