Kacper Lopata

Sorry but it’s our loss. How many would work for an employer who doesn’t pay. The lad was a gem, a great lad, a fantastic player who will go on I believe to have a great career. He gave his all in every game, no one can ask more, and but for our cretin of a chairman would surely be worth a fair sum in the future. I for one will look forward to following his progress and undoubtably his success at our loss.

One of the other things that Ron is undermining is our ability to increase the playing budget. I know he has said that the embargo during the season was an irrelevance because he would have refused to increase the squad because we were over budget anyway (which is actually an argument I agree with since it was the "chasing the dream" that got us into trouble in the 1st place).

However, the management staff were/are well on the way to increasing their own playing budget by actually being able to sell players on at a profit. People like Kacper, for example, are worth a whole lot more than when we signed them. We've proved that we could have sold him at a profit and then reinvested the money in the squad. If we had sold Kacper in Jan (or even this summer) we would be able to get in a striker at no extra cost to Ron.

Unfortunately he shot himself in the foot there, and has probably done so on a number of other players, although I certainly hope not.

Appreciate its tongue in cheek, and would never happen anyway, but I wouldn't want him back.

Talented of course, but at our lowest ebb, he left. He shouldn't then get to jump back in and enjoy potential good times with us.

I'm sure he'll bounce around the Champ/L1 anyway.
Yes he quit on us (RON), when the going was tough; but it is not, imo, too big a leap to believe his departure was another "nail in the coffin" on the route to be rid of Ron.

Possibly yes. But your original post suggested (albeit jovially) him coming back.
Yes, I can't see it happening from either the side of TL and 3 Amigos, the togetherness of the dressing room or the greed of Lapata's agent.
The night away at Barnet will endure in the player's conscience as a career high for however long he plays.

Hopefully he'll look back and regret his decision. As much as I like him personally and as a player, I don't think he has shown commitment like the other players have so shouldn't just come running back.. we'll move on, he needs to also.

In truth, most of us were absolutely gob smacked when his permanent transfer to us was announced. And I honestly don't believe we were anything but a quick stepping stone in his career upwards as he felt that he was worthy of a shout in Sheff Utd's first team squad when he was recalled from his first loan to us. When that didn't happen you had to wonder what the Sheffield U coaching team thought about his readiness. So all in all, we had some happy days with him in our midst but he was always going to be a big nob in our pond in his opinion, so jumping when he did wasn't a surprise to me at all. Good luck to him wherever he ends up, and I hope he has learnt to be patient to seize his chance if he goes to Barnsley and they make the Championship.

Agreed @RHB. Whatever the justifications, he has now left more than one club under a bit of a cloud so I hope for his sake he doesn’t force his way out of his next club. If he does, whatever the circumstances, he might find a few less takers for his services as well run clubs don’t want disruptive influences. There are other good defenders, after all.

This. I know you know the fella, Phil..I’m sure he didn’t mean to **** off the fanbase and I seriously understand why he did what he did but .. he couldn’t come back. Hopefully for his sake he’ll come good at a higher level. He’s certainly got the talent.

What is the score with his 'deal'? Was it a verbal agreement?

I’ve no idea. We all know the rumour was he was joining Barnsley, but couldn’t when he left us, could only join another National League club, which was obviously Woking.

There is one guy on here, who knows Lopata personally, and might be able to give more insight however.

Officially, he signed a short term contract with Woking - probably on the basis he'd be signing for Barnsley in the summer.

As far as 'officially' he hasn't signed a contract with Barnsley yet but I'm sure it's a formality.

Probably a good thing for him that Barnsley didn't get into the Championship. Rare that anyone jumps from a first ever full season in the National League straight to that level, League 1 will be much better for him. Having said that, will he start? It'll be interesting to see how he gets on with his career.
