Just got in and..

I think the fashion of the goal knocking us a bit. Gilbert must take soul blame for it too, with some disatrous indecisiveness.
Didnt it worry you that when they broke Gilbert was the only man back and in a 2 against 1 situation. When that happens all you can do is try and close the player in possession down, whilst trying not to let him pass to his team mate.Almost an impossible task.

Bradbury played well last night, it was nice to see him aim for the goal when he had the ball in the area rather than try and pass side ways, backwards anything other than shoot like he did last season.

As for Saturday start him with MacD up front.

I didn't go last night so really appreciate the reports guys. From the pre-season games, there's no doubt in my mind that this season's Bradbury looks fitter and sharper than last year' s. While we don't have anyone now with the talents of Eastwood, perhaps the addition of Macdonald, the recalls for Paynter and Hooper, and Tilly's continuing search for another striker have provided that extra bit of pressure and motivation?

Your absence was noted as burger sales slumped to an all time low.:p

On the basis of last night, I think that Bradbury & MacDonald will probably get the nod to start at Leeds. I don't quite see how you can drop a bloke who scored a hat trick. I will also add to the other posts on this thread that Bradbury looks a lot quicker & fitter than last season. Possibly that may also have something to do with the injury he sustained early last season, which put him out for a couple of months.

We were a penalty away from going out, the 2nd half perfromance was very poor.
However what pleased me was our energy levels in extra time. Bradbury was outstanding, ditto Barrett and Collis. Bailey and Moussa were good but not spectacular, kept it tidy but didnt really have the drive or passing ability of Macca and Maher. Clarke made a silly error for the penalty and was not at this best.
Very impressed with Macdonald, Hooper worked hard but doesnt look lke scoring a lot of goals.
Also mention for Che, taken a lot of stick on here but thought he had a very solid game.

Gilbert had no chance with the goal. If he had gone for the ball on the halfway line and not got there, Cheltenham would have had a 2 on none. It was worrying that the situation arose in the first place after our best spell of pressure in the 2nd half.

I think the conditions had a lot to do with the Cheltenham pressure in the last 30 minutes. We just couldn't clear the ball without it coming back on the wind and rain.

Yes, Agree with all that Clinton B. Che did do quite well and as i said elsewhere, we don't need to find another left back while hammell is out, no need to fart around and put hunt there etc.

Its absolutely essential that, barring Injuries, the partnership up front at Leeds is Bradbury and Charlie Mac. Bradbury and Harrold are just too similar and Hooper isn't as potent as I'd like... Charlie Mac came here with the tag of being an out and out Goalscorer that'll snatch at anything in the box, So surely him and Bradbury make the choice partnership?

last night I thought Bobby Moore was in charge again, we looked ****ing dier, and literally a second away and a fine save away from being dumped out of the cup, by cheltenham, the great thing is we now need top look no further for the next 8 weeks, until sombody realises bradbury has only scored 2 more goals, to realise he isnt the 25 goals a season striker we need, another dull and shocking performance, cheltenmah well and truley had there pants pulled down, whats going to happen when we loose 2-0 on saturday am I still going to be Victor Meldrew then or are you all going to start taking your Rose Tinted Specs off!!!!

I agree but it would be very un-Tilly to change the front pair completely from the opening game. I've always thought Bradders/Mac should be the choice (from the current crop) as Bradbury's experience and great touch can be the supply a poacher like Charlie needs.

Harrold is a useful person to bring off the bench and can have an immediate impact - as we saw on occasion last year.

Hooper has talent, no doubt, but his lack of desire really struck me on Saturday and it doesn't sound like he was much better last night.

Agreed, and that's where the current criticism is coming from. It's quite obvious that it's just not working with Harrold up front when we're up against opposition that aren't from the Ryman Blue Square Conference Division 6 U16 League, Yet because of his selection policy we're missing out on what could potentially be a match winning partnership.

I'm going to Leeds on Saturday, but i don't hold much hope for a win considering we were below par on Saturday and reportedly distinctly average last night despite what the scoreline may suggest...

Don't think you'd find a single person on these boards who would suggest that we're not missing at least one quality forward - Tilly himself has said so himself.

I haven't given up on Byfield, who I think would be mustard. Besides, if there's one WAG I'd like to see at the Hall, it's Jamelia...

:D

Matt

We were never in danger, controlling the match but NEVER shooting.A breakaway and its 1-1 and one shot from going out.

So lots of possession and tippy/tappy but no penetration.

Peter Clarke on a booking in a rainy cup match, why not pull him off to protect him form suspension and give Richards a run out.could have been sent off ofr the penalty and not faced Leeds.

Gary Hooper, what a waste of time, should not be picked again.
