John Still Speaks....

Quite right. As you say it wasn't a happy Merger was it? Hasn't another Redbridge club been formed since or am I wrong about that?

Yep - the current Redbridge FC were originally Ford United and they played at Rush Green near Romford, now one of Wet Sham's training grounds. When they left Rush Green they bought the lease on Barkingside's ground (Oakside stadium) and as they were now playing in the London Borough of Redbridge, they changed their name to match the borough. They subsequently did an 'AFC Wimbledon' job on Barkingside FC and kicked them out of their former ground.

Of course the history of Dagenham & Redbridge includes the death of Ilford F C, Leytonstone F C and Walthamstow Avenue F C (all three grounds were of course sold).
The axe fell on Dagenham F C too .
That is when I walked away.
God knows where the money allegedly went from the sale of the stadia!

When I have read somebody say "D and R are a great club" I nearly choke!!

They make AFC Wimbledon look like a bunch of choir boys!!

The AFC Wimbledon fans seem to have forgotten that!!!
Never forget they claim to have won The F A Cup before they were even formed! (do I hear laughter?) lol

I was very anti merger (I made it well known) and I was banned from the merger meeting.
A fellow Dagenham F C fan who did attend it told me " there were a lot of people there who he had never seen before!!"---All very strange or was it?!

There was even a rumour that the club was going to be called West Essex United.
D and R are simply a plastic football club!

Just like many Southend fans will never forgive or forget what Ron Martin did.
My sheer hatred of Dagenham & Redbridge will never stop.

Perhaps I missed it but I think one of the most interesting points about the interview was the complete absence of any mention of our Head of Recruitment, one Anton Robinson. Time for some clarity about his role in the new process. If he is what it says on the tin then surely AR should have been giving the interview.

Never ever get confused between Dagenham F C & Dagenham and Redbridge F C (the merger mincer).......Do you know their history?

Baldy
I used to go and watch the proper Redbridge F.C. (Ilford F.C.) before the ground was sold off. Also arranged socials, Disco's etc at the Old Lynn Road Clubhouse as a 17 Year Old.
Leytonstone and Walthamstow Avenue were also sold off for housing. All that money was then put into one side Dagenham F.C. which was how they got the money to be where they are now. Instead of the Old Istimian League

I did hear that one man (a crook) helped himself to a big chunk of the money and bought a house!

I wonder how many mergers the late Dave Andrews was involved with.
Dagenham and Redbridge in my opinion will never ever return to The EFL.

I attempted to get some help from The Football Supporters Association but they were of no use.

I once spoke to an F A official about the merger and all he could say "I am sorry to lose Dagenham!" (yikes and double yikes) I put the phone down and steam was coming out of my ears.
