Jobseekers

* ORM *

Still Loves Emma Bunton. Roy McDonough is God!
I'm down the job centre tomorrow (oops make that today in about 8-1/2 hours
sad.gif
) for a JSA interview (three weeks after requesting it). After a 1 hour interrogation over the phone with all sorts of irrelevant questions I'm led to understand that I'm in for another long session tomorrow.

I've got the square root of f%&k all chance of getting any money (once they see the redundancy pay I got) and reading through the pack of information they want from me tomorrow, I've decided they'll be getting less than 50% of what they're after. Why do they want to see my f%&king savings accounts and ISAs etc ? That's MY f%&king business, my savings which I've worked hard for and not ****ed up the wall. w%&kers.

I have more than a sneaky feeling I'm going to lose the plot as I'm expecting some 25 year old wannabee civil servant telling me I'm not entitled to anything.

I'm likely to have paid more in taxes than this p%&*k earns gross. I'm not intending to sound big headed about that but what is the point of paying all these f%&king taxes if you have to bare your life story just to get £50 a week back.

I have one serious question I need answered please. Will the fact that I'll have attended this sh!t-farce tomorrow at least ensure my NI contributions are kept up to date ?

.................................... and breathe ! That's better. I've just read all the forms again and I'm ready for battle !

Fraid it's like that for everyone, no matter how much wealth you have!

They certainly do go to the hilt when they want to know things about your personal finances.

The job centre also treat you as simpletons, thinking you will just take any job!

Good luck with them, your gonna need it!

All entitlement services totally **** me off.
They give money, hand-outs and financial support to scum 365 days a year for years on end, then when someone ln ORMs position looks for a little bit of help they get told to **** off.
For me, the social secuirity systems should allocate funds for genuine hard working people who need a hand up every once in a while.

I needed a breather a few years ago due to needing an operation.
All i needed was a bit of help with rent for 2 weeks...did i get it? Did i f%&k.

However the chav scum in the same que received his 300 quid to spunk on beer and tabs.

The whole social security system in the UK is a disgrace. Why should people like ORM have to undergo an extensive interview whilst so-called economic refugees wander over the eastern Europe from beyond and the UK taxpayer picks up the tab, no questions asked, for these thieving little gypos to spread their nasty little ways around our towns and cities. I'm not even going to start to say that the system is any better in Spain, but I do know that if you haven't earned it, you not entitled to it, no matter how f%&king "economic refugee'd" you claim you are!

And whilst this is happening, this happens....

I'm crap at links, so it might not work

When my dad died my mum got a death in service payment from his work. The DSS wanted to know how much and then deducted her social payments as a result until she only had a few thousand left.
Still.

At least it kept 15 of Lizzie Bardsleys kids in cigarettes for a week.

The Governmet in the U.K started to be sneaky like this with National Lottery handouts.

When Camelot began dishing out lottery funds to local charities, organisations etc the Government then deducted this ammount from their official funding

The result being, the charity got exactly what it got before and the Government kept the money

What other types are there?
You tell me?

But since it rolled out in Jobcentre Plus about four years ago (used to be the Employment Service) it has improved somewhat.

Has anybody on this thread visited Southend Jobcentre in the last four years...? If so, i'd like to hear why it was such a terrible experience so as i can feed it back up the line.

ORM shouldn't have a problem really.

I get far more upset with idle English people (of ablbe body and sound(ish) mind) who choose to live off of the state because they think the only jobs they are qualified to do are beneath them.

These are people that (for the most part) have had the same access to education and opportunity as the rest of us and yet are still unwilling or unable to make any sort of contribution to society.

At least the man who has made his way to the UK from Eastern Europe or Africa on limited resources has shown a bit of initiative and willingness to do something to improve his situation.

I'm not naive enough to believe that a significant proportion (how large exactly? Does anyone have any figures?) of immigrants DO choose to put their hand out and live off the state but you never hear anecdotal evidence of or read stories in the Daily Mail about the armies of immigrants who work long hours for very low wages in factories, agriculture and cleaning jobs.

I suspect that the children of these people will go on to become the countries high earners and educated elite because their parents will make sure they seize the opportunites afforded to them in this country rather than spend their time complaining that someone else it getting it easier than they are.

I have only been in a job centre once so I am not really an expert but from observation the one piece of advice I can give is.....

Make sure you turn up wearing old clothes covered in either

- Plaster
- Cement
- Paint
- Motor Oil

otherwise the staff will not believe that you are actually unemployed.

Indeed, well said.

What does annoy me is the old cliches like 'coming over here and stealing our jobs' and 'claiming of the state'.

Well, i don't have any exact figures, but around 60% of job applications made through Jobcentre Plus are from LEGAL immigrants into this country (and the process to actually claim a NINO is very very strict, so it takes a lot to become a 'legal' immigrant). That said, more then 60% of people claiming benefit are from UK origin.

What does that tell you...?

National Lottery money going to local charities?! Surely that's not right! I thought only Guinea Pig fams in Borneo and small ant breeding colonies in Senegal received this sort of cash? So much for helping to improve Britain ...

Actually I will admit that when I was living in Westcliff, I noticed that the Somalian community was very willing to work long hard hours to improve their lot in life. The Kosovans, however, were another story; they were thieving ba$tards who had no intention of working (legally at least) and saw the UK as a huge (and gullible) pot of easy money!

Yep. Totally agree.

If you are from one of the 29 countries in the EEA then you have as much right to work in the UK as any UK citizen does.

If a Polish jobseeker or a Lithuanian gets to a job before Joe Bloggs from Southend does then tough basically, you should have been quicker. There's enough work out there for everybody believe me.

So are you saying that instead of discriminating against all immigrants it is better to discriminate against specific races?

Joking aside though (and this is a genuine question) how are English ex pats (and the English in general) regarded in Spain?

ORM - do you trust your missus? Apart from the ISAs (unless she hasnt used her yearly allowance) you should put savings accounts in her name (especially if she is a low-rate taxpayer?

Good luck - I was out of work for 5 months a couple of years ago following a redundancy - I siphoned off my redundancy payment to the wife and kept schtum down the job center. After all, I had paid taxes & national insurance so when I needed some assistance surely I was entitled to it!?

One word of advice - if you are attending interviews (whether the job center arranged it (highly unlikely!), you can claim the fare back.

With reference to the layabouts who claim off the state - the husband of one of the wife's friends hasnt worked for 2 years as he doesnt want to work for somebody else(!), cant be bothered, is selling stuff on EBay (he has a high volume of sales - surely this should be declared as income?
rock.gif
), etc. They have just recently moved into a 2 bed flat in Westcliff which the council are paying for upto 3 months rent and then they are left to pay the £625 a month rent (and when they cant pay will probably get this paid for again by the council).
Oh and the wife of this layabout - oh well her answer to why she doesnt go out to work is -
"Why should I go out to work? None of my friends do!"

Needless to say I cant stand these money grabbing f***ers!
