I don't even think it's about a big striker linking with another front man.
For me , it's about a striker ( big or small ) holding the ball up and midfielders getting forward to support.
Most of the successful teams in recent years have that , and Wigan and others have it this season.
We haven't played like that for ...... well I can't remember.
That is why Wordsworth is really important to our team and why ( when fit ) he has some success , because he gets forward in support

There has been a noticeable increase in L1 in big lads doing the number 9 roll in the last two seasons. Unfortunately our big lad up front couldn't get out of bed by 9

Pancake Rolls are number 14 on my menu though quite what Chinese food had to do with the quality of forwards is beyond me, except that David Crown used to be a regular at Hong Kong House

Did he need a visa for work?

Blues have also been in talks with a Premier League club about loaning a striker plus they also spoke with a striker who was in the Fleetwood squad at Roots Hall on Saturday

So it's looking like the only players we are likely to get are gonna be loan signings:sad:

Didn't expect anything else to be frank, RM clearly doesn't trust PB to spend anymore money, quite rightly so, so we will get in a few loan signings to try and avoid relegation and then have a complete clear out at the end of the season with a new manager and squad in place for the new season*

*I'm fully aware that this will probably only happen 3 days before the start of the new season but why change the habit of a lifetime. :nope:

Nicky Ajose apparently wants to leave Bury where he's on loan from Charlton as he's not getting any minutes there at the moment. Perhaps someone we could look at if Charlton want to loan him out again. Proven goalscorer in League One.

We need someone who can find the onion bag, but I'm not sure someone who can't get a game for the only side worse than us is necessarily the answer

Lenny cost us nothing and we got 6 good years out of him There must be other lennys out there crying for a club to give them a chance .

To be fair, whilst you are quite correct, Lenny was signed as a youngster with potential - a work in progress. He was purely a squad player and couldn't get past Sean Clohessey at RB. He only became a key player as he developed his game and grew into the central midfield role.

Not saying we shouldn't make Lenny-type signings, we absolutely should, it's the way forward - but we need more than that now, we have an urgent need for players who can hit the ground running and perform immediately at League 1 level.

We had an offer of 150K accepted by Sheff Utd, so that's not true.

Assuming the loanees are good enough to keep us up that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, it looks like Phil is here to stay but I can't see him signing a new deal with us, less players on the books should mean the next manager can get more players that fits his system.

Doubt it is Madden in consideration that Fleetwood only signed him last week.

Devante Cole would be an interesting signing, as I rate him, but probably unlikely.

I didn't know that about Madden whoops! My little cousin who is slowly becoming a Southend fan (not sure why) and he bought Devante Cole on Fifa 18. So it must be Cole that we are looking at.
