Jamie Cureton put in transfer request

Yeah not our type of player. TBH i don't blame tilly for not wanting him, he's never done anytthing else.

one season wonder IMO

You are of course having the proverbial giraffe. Check the stats and look at Cureton's record. At 31 he is perhaps getting on a bit, but a proven goalscorer of his ability is worth a lot as was proved last season.

And no he isn't a realistic signing for us, he will stay in the CCC.

it was a bit tongue in cheek... a goal in 3 games isn't a bad return but to be honest most of the times i've seen him play he has been really poor and last season IMO he had an excellent season but as you say, at 31 i think that was definitely as good as he will get. He has been around long enough for people to probably appreciate that he his a good lower league striker but will he be able to fluke another season in the CCC like col ewe did? i don't think so to be honest

Yes he did, but then when he rejected us he said something like he's not our type of player. Or am i talking rubbish? I thought that was what happened? and the last bit was sort of tongue in cheek.

Possibly, there were so many who turned us down last summer it's all sort of merged into a grey collage of rejection :(

Colchester have rejected Jamie Cureton's transfer request and will try to persuade him to sign a new contract.
The 31-year-old scored 23 Championship goals last season but is disillusioned by Colchester's decision to sell strike partner Chris Iwelumo to Charlton.

Boss Geraint Williams told U's website: "We're disappointed Jamie feels he has to hand in a transfer request, but I stress we do not want to sell him.

"We're looking to build for the future and we want Jamie to be part of that."

Geraint is a good manager but like Tilly seems to struggle to attract the right players to their respective clubs.

Not really a surprise when you look at Colchester and the other 23 teams in the league.

What player would pick Colchester playing at lets face it a league two "stadium" at best in front of 5,500 people. We were getting 10,000 and even thats small fry at that level.

The championship is indeed a tough league and clubs of the 10,000 attendance level are always going to struggle to attract Championship level players.

Colchester will be a more attractive proposition when Cuckoo farm is built, but even then will be a small fish in a big pond and I cant see how they can survive at that level for too long.

I may get some stick for this but why not have a cheeky attempt at signing him thought he looked quality at the hall

he wont drop down a division. He put in a transfer request becasue Col Ewe's ambition didn't match his own....and I'm guessing going to League 1 wan't on his agenda.

they had to reject it because he is the only way they are going to stand a chance of staying up. if he goes they are down. him and iwelumo scored basically all there goals last season.

absolutely Dan, any side losing both their strikers is hard but for someone like Col U without much financial clout and wanting to stay in the CCC then that's a huge blow.

Probably more a case of his mate telling him he is now on 8 grand a week or whatever at Charlton, while he is ******* up a mere 2.5 or something
