Jamie Cureton put in transfer request

Seems a bit odd to me. One of the 'bigger' Championship clubs is unlikely to take a punt on him now. He should stay at Colchester IMHO.

I agree Andy, and he has a year left on his contract as well. The trouble is its not really worth keeping players who are unhappy. I think the fact big Chris went and then said a few things about the club has unsettled the lad.
Barker will be a big loss as well, and there is talk of Dean Gerken going to West Ham as the 2nd choice keeper :(
I think we will have big problems next season, we just do not have the cash to compete. Parky worked wonders in the transfer market with little money to spend, Geraint is a good manager but like Tilly seems to struggle to attract the right players to their respective clubs.

I'm surprised you've missed out on Barker as well.

Then again you performed miracles last season and proved everyone wrong after losing your manager and goalscoring midfielder so no doubt you'll do it again.

I'm frankly delighted today with all the news coming out of Layer Road.

Petty I know, but "6-0 on aggregate" has been really riling me.

That's a bit of a silly comparison.
Shevchenko was a proven world-class striker.

Cureton is a lower league journeyman.

Barker was on a good salary at Cardiff rumoured to be around 9K per week, he still had a year to run on his contract so could have played reserve football and still earned £450K !
We were never going to match that but I think it was more the lure of 1st team football that attracted him to Layer Road.

Always coming, though, wasn't it. Don't dish it out to them if you don't like it coming back at you!!

Year I was born :D

Seriously, best of luck for next season....you are seriously going to need it.

I know mate it is going to be very tough, I knew it was going to be bad but not this bad!
Thanks for the good wishes and all the best to you boys for next season.

My 1st game at Layer Road was in 1958, I was only 5 though :)

Colchester aren't a one man team, and although it pains me to say it they worked brilliantly as a unit. They spent a while in League One building a good side which led to a succesful season in the Championship.

However, with the main strike force gone, they may struggle next term. But they'll probably overachieve and surprise us all again. Shame.

No not a one man team but losing Barker Halford Cureton Iwelumo and possibly Garcia and Gerken leaves us with the tea lady in goal and the cleaner up front.............hang on have we got a tea lady and a cleaner!
