We need to be backing the lad cant fault his effort on the pitch and his desire unfortunately he dropping to deep for the ball. he needs to be up there waiting for the ball to come into the box.

Hopefully though it will be benyon and harris upfront at hereford very impressed with their link up play when benyon come on

Isn't Mr Flood a Barry Corr in disguise? Big lump, puts himself about....seems to be just what the doctor ordered in light of Mssr's Corr, Dickinson being out for the rest of the season?
Why not throw him in against Hereford with Mr Benyon or Harris as an aide de camp?

Funny how everyone got so excited after his cameo at Northampton and now they're disappointed that he's staying. From the little I've seen of him I think he's got some talent and he must do if Bolton have offered him a professional contract. He seems like a good, down-to-earth, honest lad too but I think he's just a bit lightweight at the moment. Against Crawley he was a boy against 2 very big men. This is all a good experience for him, though, coming down to League Two and playing against big old lumps of centre-backs. Probably exactly what Bolton want. Maybe it's a case of them getting more out of it than us but if we're not paying anything for him and with Dickinson out then I think it's worth keeping him. I think he has more to offer but I would like to see Flood given a proper run-out in the next 2 games, seems like a pointless signing at the moment.

It's not a good experience for me having to watch. I don't want someone who has come to L2 to gain some experience, I want someone who is experienced who can do a job now. Bolton are mugging us off

He is here to do a job for us tho. It's meant to be a Two way thing. At the moment, he is no threat in any way to the opposition, and no use to us at all. We could bring in someone so much better.

He is no threat because he is having to drop to deep to pick up the ball and is not finding himself in any goalscoring opportunities. Once he gets a goal behind him im sure his nerves will settle and more will follow just the same for Benyon also.

Everyone is talking about bringing a proving player with experience in, we dont have the money for that. On the books we have 5 fit strikers or almost fit to stake a claim in the side. He is only young but is not disgracing himself on the pitch he is battling hard and for periods of the game is finding himself up top alone.

Maybe we should start Benyon and Harris the weekend and bring Sampson on as a sub because the last thing he needs is fans getting on his back like they have on others this season

Sampson is one for the future and if theres a chance to bring him in permanently then bring him back in the summer. For now his wages could have helped free up cash to hopefully bring in a more experienced forward. With Sampson retained have we the budget to stetch to a new loan forward which'll be potentially the 9th forward on our books.

We haven't an earthly of signing him in the summer, Bolton rate him highly. It's more likely he'll go on a season long loan to a higher division club IMO.

It's a funny old game, Sampson was greeted with delight after his cameo at Northampton, and we were assured he must start the next game, and now he's deemed not good enough. How fickle is the football "supporter" ?

He did get off to a good start against Northampton, but now he has spent so many minutes playing for us, his weaknesses have been exposed and he clearly is not good enough for a promotion chasing side.
Whether he will be a much better player in a few years, we will see. He could start his improvement the next time he is on the pitch by going into the penalty area a lot more, as he hasn't the trickery or speed to get past defenders. So he needs to be on the end of something in the box.
Not so much fickle as reality.

Does anyone else remember seeing Sampson looking less than happy on Saturday? I remember seeing him come off at half-time with a sort of "am I really part of this?" kind of look. And earlier in the half I thought he was having a gesticulation spat ("What are you wittering on about?") with Phillips - not a good sign, I thought, when team spirit is so important, and when you might have thought he owed some kind of deference to Phillips.

Sampson - This is a good deal.

He appears to fight for the cause. Get's his foot in where it hurts (the defender) and throws himself about. Although not much to talk about from the Creepy game that was something that I did appreciate.

His hearts in the right place and he gives 100%. just not happening for him because we are not playing to his strengths and he is dropping to deep all the time. He also needs to learn how to be a nasty b*****d to stop getting bullied. (Boxing with Moshni might help).
