Issues surrounding food & beverages in NWQ, X block and car parking - Boxing Day

We as fans have to live with inevitable problems and even make a few sacrifices to get there.

Remember to make an omelette you have to crack some eggs.
The sacrifice I would have to make is not go to matches anymore, if they continue to close off part of the car park, as I mentioned before I can not physically push a wheelchair up the incline in the car park after the game, I have been a season ticket holder for over 30 years, it’s not a sacrifice I’m willing to make, especially as there are better solutions.

I can't make any comments on the problems encountered re access / food options but do take heart someone is taking notice of the comments and listening to ideas as to how to fix them.Roots Hall has been neglected for so long it's bound to take time to make improvements ,Rome wasn't built in a day !

I suppose supporters have been quite lucky in the fact our club has quite a large car park to accommodate so many cars for parking. Head to some clubs and there is barely space to swing a cat let along allow parking for 100+ cars.

Might have to be brutal and cut back on who can park in the car park if not enough don't renew next year. Perhaps taking away those that have recently got a car parking space to reduce the capacity. They may have to go back on the waiting list again

I've always thought too many are given out for hospitality - it used to be three car par passes for a box. I believe that's been cut back to two this season though. I don't know how they work in the lounges.

I do wonder if the council could create a Southend United Car Parking pass whereby it allows to park in council car parks on match day at a reduced rate, similar to the Southend Pass where you get 3 hours free a day, but instead get 3 hours free on a match day when you purchase 1 or 2 hours (allows time to get to and from the ground) Could be argued that's what the current Souhend pass does though I suppose.

Saw this on our neighbours up the A12 recently

There was an evening match where the council put the padlocks on and cleared off for the evening

And also pretty sure there was an evening match where the council put the padlocks on and cleared off fir the evening
To be fair, I think most Southend fans would lock Colchester fans in if they had the chance 🤣

They are Sheep after all

@Smiffy and others....response regarding X, Y/Z:

As mentioned in the statement, we cannot currently open these blocks without reducing capacity to the Gilbert & Rose Stand. There are a number of scenarios that have been considered and plans worked on – however all scenarios, particularly those involving segregation, need to be signed off by all members of the safety group.

Thanks Kay. Are we privy as to what is required works wise to get the stands up to capacity? And will these works take place over the summer?

You should be pretty sure as it's mentioned in the article you have posted !!

I'll take that to our Liaison Meeting next month, @Smiffy as it's more forward planning than instant remedies.

That's exactly what you can do with the Southend Pass so it might not be too difficult if the right people come on board at the Highways Department. Maybe a Matchday Southend Pass restricted to Saturday match days only...
At present you can arrive at, say, 1300 at Civic Centre car park use the Southend Pass for 3 hours until 1600 and then top up in advance for an hour or two hours to 1700 or 1800, when charging ends, as required.
