Question Is this the biggest appointment in the clubs history?

DTS

The Business
In terms of appointment of managers is this potentially thr biggest. Sturrock is someone with a proven track record at this level, he is someone we have all heard of and on paper he looks to me anyway pretty decent.

I am thinking this is probably the most high profile manager we have ever appointed?

Within the game, obviously Bobby Moore had a far bigger reputation, albeit unproven as a manager. To a lesser extent Ronnie Whelan was also a massive name in the game and was given fortunes to spend.

Id also say that Barry Fry had a lot of publicity and a big reputation when we appointed him......

THink this is one of the biggest appointments though as its one of the most important periods in the clubs recent past.

Arthur Rowley still holds the Football Leagues all time goial scoring record.
Bobby Moore captained England to a trophy they've aspired to win again for the last 44 years.
Peter Taylor local boy played for England.
Ronnie Whelan almost unsurpassed record of success as a player for Liverpool.

Also didn't he come pretty much straight from World Cup '94 in the USA to us...

Good stat re Arthur Rowley. So are we saying these are bigger or are your playing devils advocate?

Reputation as a player counts for nothing, though. The only thing that really counts is success as a manger, and as such Sturrock has to be, as DtS says, about the "biggest" manager we have ever appointed.

I have to admit I was a little bit shocked that it was someone I had heard off and thought was pretty decent so it was a lot better than I expected.

He's getting panned by Plymouth fans on the 606 boards......I remain supportive, yet apprehensive.....Ask me in December
