Quite a few posts on other threads about why we haven't signed so-and-so, we never get anyone, ya-da-ya-da-ya-da.

We had Robinson for the last half of the season so we know what he can and can't do.

It seems Brighton and Swindon have both offered £275K for him with Swindon favourites to land him.

For us to compete we would need to offer £300K I guess.

So, is he worth that sort of money?

Straight poll - he is or he isn't. This is nothing to do with comparitives, like Foran and Walker who we paid £200K for. This is purely based on Robinsons ability.

He is quick, yes, but not the best finisher.

Personally I think that sort of money would be much better spent elsewhere.

I think there are other areas the team needs strengthening, especially with the departure of Dorian & Clarke (possibly).

Got to say no, if we have 300,000 to spend on a player which i doubt, a centre half i think is much more needed. Shame though.

300k for a kid who's hardly set the world alight at Watford. Not for me thanks!

On the other hand, £6m for Fraizer Campbell looked a lot of money for a Man Utd reserve.

Technically I though Robinson was the worst of all our strikers. It looked to me as if, football wise, he would not be able to play any higher than L1 and I would not say the same for Barnard, Walker, Laurent and Freedman who I think all have more footballing ability. However, Robinson has pace and is selfish- he will get lots and lots of goals at L2 and probably around 15 a season at L1. Yet, as Swindon will be well aware from their experience this year, you can have a fantastic goalscorer and still be an absolutely dogsh*t team.

Would be amazed if he actually goes for £300k. Foran I can kind of understand the fee for at the time as he was playing in the top flight Scotland (All be it its like a pub league) and Walker we got knocked for.

£300k wouldbe better off spent in other areas of the side but I am personally we didnt try and do the deal when Brendan ROgers was there and we had Dean Austin in the background to help us out.

Where have you got the 300k price tage from. According to the newspaper sites us and swindon have offered aroung the 150k mark, if we offered 300k swindon can have him he's good but not that good.

No Robinson is not worth £300k.

We didn't pay £200k for Walker though did we? We got him at discount because of his irregular heartbeat.

Would not pay over 150k for Robinson, he aint that great, only got pace on his side in the more pohysical games last season he did go somewhat missing imo

Age on his side, knows where the net is, will get better and likely to give 20+ goals a season.
On this basis is worth £300000 to some team but I feel we won't be spending that sort of money on anyone this summer, our total spend is likely to be a lot less than that!
If we did have that sort of money then other areas of the team need it more.
Is he worth £300000? Yes
For us ? No

the sun says swindon have got him for 120k, i would have liked us to have bid about 150k for him, i think weve missed out if he goes for 120k!!

I understand that the bids in so far are around £100k - £150k, which is where I'd rate Theo at present. Talks of £275k - £300k are bound to either be made up, or including clauses like promotion, goals etc etc.

Other areas of the team do need players in sharpish like centre half, left back and left wing, but here we have one of our transfer targets about to slip through our fingers. If £275K is the figure, including clauses, I don't see why we shouldn't be in for him on that sort of money. A big chunk of the clauses will be based on promotion, and if we was to win promotion, Theo would have been worth the money and we'd be able to afford it. If we don't go up then it doesn't cost us as much.

I'd be in for Theo without doubt. He has been here since January so knows the lads and the Club well. The management and the fans know all about him. His effectively been on trial since January. He has scored goals at us and Hereford and has worked out as 1 in 3 which is very decent for a forward. If he was to continue that form through the full league season next season he'd have 15 goals for the season. Goalscorers do not grow on trees, we have seen that with some of the strikers we have brought throughout the years like Paynter, Foran, Harrold, Broughton, Wayne Gray, Walker, Revell, Tes Bramble, Mark Rawle, Tony Richards and Graeme Jones. In my time as a Southend United fan only Leon Constanine and Freddy Eastwood have hit 20 goals in a season. Barnard has the potential if he stays fit, and Theo could do it as well.

Definately not worth £300,000 at the moment, however if Swindon have got him for £120,000 as reported then is it too much to ask that our official club site state the reason/s why we failed to sign him?. After all we are very unlikely to sign a 15 goal a season striker for under this amount.
