Is Moussa ready to replace Bailey?

Is Moussa the man for next season?

good points here - if/when bailey leaves, the worry is will his replacement chip in with 10+ goals

Its going to be hard enough replacing him, let alone replacing him with a defensive midfielder who scores 10 goals a season. We'd be better off trying to stop 10 fewer goals this season.

Indeed. Which is why I wouldn't mind cashing in on Clarke this summer. Lovely chap, yes. Decent defender, yes. Committed player who gives everything, yes. And, as ORM would point out, probably a better player than Barrett.

But, rightly or wrongly, the club and Adam Barrett have committed themselves to one another, and so that is that, really. And there can be no doubt at all that Barrett and Clarke make a lousy central defensive partnership.

So, as has been the case ever since Spinner retired, we desperately need a Spinner Mk II to play alongside Barrett in defence. I'm at a loss as to who that should be - givemefootball.com seems to suggest that Darren Powell of Southampton is currently available on a free transfer and, were that true (and depending on whether we could afford his wages), he'd be a cracking signing.

As an alternative - perhaps not as experienced a head, but a taller player than Barrett, I'm a big fan of Millwall's Zak Whitbread. He's only got a year left on his current deal... surely we could pick him up for not too much money...?

As for the Mousse... play him. With the numbers of players we have leaving, I'm sensing that next year will be a transitional season (bit like this last one was!). That being so, play the Mousse. We'll only find out if he's good enough if we play him. He and Macca are very different types of player and ought to complement each other well. I'm all for giving the Mousse a go...
