With rumours rife that Bailey is off to the championship, that poses the question how would we replace our player of the season?

Will Tilly be planing on the Moose being the man?

The Moose is getting to the stage in his career when he needs games. Tilly obviously trusts him enough to pitch him into our most important game of the season. Whilst he needs more experience, there is only one way he is going to get it and that is by playing.

I think Tilly is a conservative manager who would prefer to ease Moussa in, by playing him on the right, rather than the more important central midfield role. But with Moussa having jumped club captain Maher in the pecking order, might he be the player to partner McCormack in the middle next season?

Think he could do it as he has shown that he he could in previous matches although he does occasionally look a bit leight weight aswell as would he get the goals?

but i would defo like to see him play more this season.

touhie..heart says yes, head says lets get someone more established and proven in. But use Moose more effectively through Subs, suspensions and injury. Dare I say, even a months loan?

nope -

Bailey has been playing a bit deeper - so could see Alan Mac replacing Baily and Moussa pushing forward and with Walkerand Barnard in place up front a potentially strong youthful and talented look to the team - a couple of strong fullbacks (Francis and Mulgrew - purlease) and its looking ok -

If you are unconvinced about Clarke and Barratt it seems Clarke might have
walked himself out the door meaning we can re-inforce there -

and got to get in some excellent wide men - 1 if Gower stays - 2 if he goes -

guess if Bailey stays we are in even better shape as Tilly will probabley start with Mac and Moussa and hold Bailey back ....... that would show him....

Sorry, but going by what I have seen so far Moussa is not good enough yet.

Too lightweight for me, and not strong enough in the tackle for cmf.

He definitely needs games, but I'm not convinced he's ready to deal with the more physical L1 sides- seems to go missing on occasion when the tackles start flying about (although I think it's something he's starting to improve on). If we have the numbers to allow it, a loan for the early part of the season might be a useful move for both parties.

Spot on, if numbers let us, def think loaning him out would be a great idea!

not quite yet, if we have him in the middle he wont take us to the top of the table right now im afraid to say..
imo, anyway

So he has a great season, and we forget all about Bailey. Champ clubs become intrested, and at end of season he asks for twice his wages.

so where is your vote YS? I normally just copy you!

Moussa is no better now than 3 years ago IMO

Its time to stop being "the next in line" and to move onto "the here and the now" and quite simply i don't think he can make the step up

I would LOVE to be proved wrong btw

Yep agree with that, same as Hooper one for the future but the future never comes.

Occasionally I ask questions to which I don't know the answer!

My preference would normally be to ease Moussa in as I'd be wary of asking a teenager to become the team's playmaker. That would suggest playing him on the right-hand side, although I don't think its a position he is particularly suited to.

However, Tilly has shown faith with Moussa by playing him against Donny and in numerous other high profile games. Whether that is because Tilly reckons he handles the pressure better than others, or is just the more conservative/defensive option, I'm not sure.

If we lose Bailey and Gower, our best two players, next season is one of rebuilding. If you are looking to rebuild the team, Moussa would be the obvious choice to start rebuilding it around. It would be a bold and exciting move to do so, which I do find an attractive prospect, but at the same time I could see it potentially going horribly wrong and a relegation struggle ensuing given that a poor defence would face further scrutiny without the defensively superb Bailey to shield it.

My main worry is that Moussa isn't physical enough and isn't in opponents' faces enough. Last season we dominated most of the midfields in the division by that type of pressing approach - Donny's 5 in midfield were one of the few teams to get the better of us in the middle of the park and we the way we dominated Walsall (IMHO, a decent team) twice was fantastic. Moussa is more reminiscent of Maher, and it took us about 5 seasons to field a competitive team around Maher, whilst he learnt his trade and how to impose himself more on opponents. I think Moussa has more potential than Maher (who couldn't run), but I don't like the idea of waiting 5 years to be competitive in midfield.

I still don't feel I've seen enough of Moussa to make the call, which is probably telling in itself. Tilly will have seen more of Moussa in training and be in a better place to make this call as to whether Moussa is ready. I think I'm leaning towards the idea that if you don't play him, you'll never know camp.

good points here - if/when bailey leaves, the worry is will his replacement chip in with 10+ goals

for me he is too lightweight. Seen him alot in the reserves as well and never looked anywhere near good enough to be a replacement for Bailey

I'd like to see him being brought more into the side but don't think he's quite ready yet. Of course, if he has a fantastic pre-season that might all change. I have a slight suspicion that, should he stay, Macca might not be too chuffed to be paired with Moose though.

moooooooooooooooooooooooos not good enough yet, dont ever ever ever ever let him play on the right wing still cant believe tilly played him there against donny
