Don't forget Plymouth either, they went up back to back and they're holding their own (though they do have far better facilities and fininces).
Got to sat I am in 100% agreeance with Rusty on this one.[b said:Quote[/b] (Rusty Lee @ Dec. 03 2006,15:55)]I dont mind watching us lose, just want to see some fight, and like some people on this board the players have already given up
First class response. How anyone could look forward to relegation is completely beyond me.[b said:Quote[/b] (Richard_Cadette @ Dec. 04 2006,11:32)]The post which sums up Southend and some of its followers.
If we get relegated would it be such a bad thing?
Jeez, if thats the case, why did we even bother kicing a balll in anger this season then? We could have saved everyone a ton of money and not bothered and then some of the fans would be over the moon as next year were guaranteed League One football.
Relegation this year would be a sickening blow, what else could it possibly be? Why on earth would anyone except that playing at a level lower than the one you're currently in can be a good thing? It cannot!!
If you are looking forward to trips to Carlisle, Wycombe and whatever else tin pot club gets promoted from League Two then what are you doing here?
This is what it is all about, travelling to places like Leeds, Wolves, Sunderland etc and its about time the fans, players and management pulled out every stop available in an attempt to keep us here.
If it fails, so be it, but for crying out loud, at least go down with all gund blazing, not this air of resignation attitude, it is absolutely pathetic!
Can only feel that you've hit the nail on the head with that one. Once we go down and don't start like a bulldozer, the clingers on who only watch us to see us play the big teams will lose interest. Falling gates, drop in money (don't forget the drop in TV revenue), having to sell our players to get monewy and keep wage bill down, then we're stuck. Don't think it'll be quite as rosy as some people make it out to be![b said:Quote[/b] (Skyblue @ Dec. 03 2006,18:44)]The larger clubs with a larger fan base generate more income and therefore pay higher wages for better players. If we went down and did'nt start at a cracking pace its not unreasonable to asume that our gates would soon drop back to the 4-5,000 mark and with players on championship sallaries, we could be in a lot of trouble end up having to sell of our better players to keep our headsabove water. Then the cycle begins again until another Freddy is found on the cheap to transform a medioce side into one that can compete with the big boys.
Steady on mate.[b said:Quote[/b] (Richard_Cadette @ Dec. 04 2006,11:32)]The post which sums up Southend and some of its followers.

So should we leave it the way it is now, and play out the rest of this season with gutless results like sat?[b said:Quote[/b] (mattytheshrimper @ Dec. 04 2006,13:35)]i am dreading league 1. very low crowds etc. loss of big players
but i mainly am not sure if we can come back up.
