iPhone/Android App Idea - Your Thoughts Please...

Maybe a simpler app would be more appropriate. It seems that you are trying to go all out on this app, which has quite a few problems as stated above, but maybe keeping it simple would make it easier and better.

I like the idea of an app that shows the local convenience stores, but the prices could change regularly and this would possibly too much to ask for a small business to keep sending off their prices.

Keep the idea of finding a local store, with the map and information etc.

There are already barcode scanners out there, and the price wouldn't make much of a difference. I know I wouldn't walk an extra 5 minutes just to save 5p on milk, for example.

Delivery would be very hard as the convenience store should be, well, convenient, and with supermarkets offering delivery services, I don't see the point in having a delivery for just a couple of items.

Sorry to rip up the idea a bit but here is a thought. When you search for a store, how about giving the option to review the store? Just a short review and a rating out of 5 stars.

Just had a good read of this and thought it over. Fantastic idea, noone ever got anywhere without being innovative. I think I will raise the same queries that have been raised elsewhere such as the issue of sole trader corner shops having to hire more staff to be able to cover the cost of the orders, and they would also have to be over the age of 17 (realistically 18) as they would need to be able to drive. You'd probably find yourself in a bit of a vicious cycle by which no corner shop will hire the staff, thus meaning that there is no growth.

Far fetched though it may seem, I think you could do worse than making this a local app at first, perhaps Rochford and Rayleigh borough council and hiring two youngsters two collect and deliver the orders. £5 an hour, cash in hand. Seems like it is another way of you cashing in on this app would be by being responsible for the collection/deliveries and generating brand loyalty.
