Breaking News Interview with Justin Rees for the Guardian Australia

I like the idea he sees it as a exciting challenge to turn the club around, and wants the club to be self sustainable, pretty much what we all want. If what we've heard is true then RM has to contribute 20mill to roots hall (believe that when we see it) the management and playing staff are great too, kev isn't going to want to spend fortunes and has proven he can work with no money, we are also probably 3 or 4 good players short
I think that's also where John Still earns his money.

There are some interesting stories to come out of this. Why did RM meet an unknown Australian within days of making contact when he apparently ignored contact/bids from supposedly credible others ? Did RM pass other interested parties onto JR to form this consortium ? What happened with Kimura ? Who came up with the idea to remain at RH and ditch the stadium at FF ?

“if the club was completely stable it wouldn’t be for me”

so once’s it’s stable - 5 years? We could be up for the next step of the journey…..

He sounds very entrepreneurial, a force of nature in the business world. I would suggest once his mission is complete and he’s got us back established in L1, rebuilt stadium, finances stable etc., he’ll move on to another project. But that’s fine, we’d all be eternally grateful and he’d always be a shrimper.
I honestly wouldn't mind this, as long as he handed off his share to someone capable of keeping us there or maybe pushing on a bit.

Ron had a 5 year plan when he arrived but SUFC years are 5 times that of normal year.

To quote Mike Tyson "Everybody has plan until you punch them in the mouth".....Lets hope JR can bob weave and cover up when he has to. I have no doubt punches will come his way.. Its football so its inevitable.

When fossetts was built which is not happing now .But the council gave a limited amount of use outside of the fotball .Iwould like to think when rootshall is revamped .That the council will let it be uesd outside of football to help bring in moneys during the close season .

"The bid only came together in the past three months. The other five in the consortium are Southend fans who Rees met through the club after he initially expressed an interest"

I'm still confused how this lot managed to find themselves in a room together thrashing out a deal to buy us. Has someone gone out and hand picked this lot and got them around the table? Or were these 6 interested as individuals, but all agreed to join forces? Someone must of pulled it all together....Tom, Gary?

How does an Aussie travelling across Europe, bump into 5 blokes he doesn't know from Hong Kong, Rayleigh, Southend etc and suddenly they all decide yeah let's buy a dying NL club?

It's bizarre, but I love it. I'd like to know the full story once the deal is done. Could be a perfect one for an opening fans forum, with a beer.
There is a film there waiting to be made .

I honestly feel that we have to be slightly guarded with this deal until it's done. JR doesn't properly know the individuals who are supposedly getting involved, they could have many disagreements in that time. It's a lot of people and a lot to ask for all of them to be on the same page, especially when they have been just thrown together in a very short period of time. We really don't know that much about JR yet and you have to wonder why he was so willing to jump in with a load of strangers on a project like this.

Also, DD hasn't been completed and the man himself hasn't even attended a game at Roots Hall.

I'm also not sure if they have to pass the fit and proper owners test, but if they do, we don't know if that will throw anything up.

Singing "We got Martin out" is a little premature in all honesty, when you consider he hasn't gone yet and the successors haven't officially arrived.

For now, I'm going to take a little step back from the euphoria and just be content that our club lives to fight another day. If everything is sorted come November, the true party can begin.

As long as they leave their egos at the gates when they drive in, it should be fine.
I'm sure that, being successful in their own individual fields, they know when to compromise.

This was my view! With many people holding the reins there are bound to be differences of opinion. To work, this has got to be a carefully thought out evolution, not a revolution…

Good article except for the last paragraph. They have to mention Wrexham and Ryan & Rob probably purely for some click bait

Clickbait is the headline, not the last paragraph.

The media do go a bit over the top about R&R but it doesn't bother me. Wrexham had harder times than most, I'm happy for them. Like it or not, the Wrexham story is truly unique and media-worthy.

And it did of course raise the profile of the National League globally.
