What do the club threaten SZ with when people wrongly question the crowd figures?

Really think we need to screw this guy. If the leading Southend United Supporters website gets another teams website closed down for defamation of their own club and it's supporters(Us!) it could hit the news. Then we would be able to get more publicity for the fact that Ricketts is a lying Bar- Steward and how he's played the race card bringing in to question genuine clains from actual victims of Racial Abuse.

I sent an e-mail to the editor of that article, along the lines of slanderous accusations against our club etc.. this was the respons i got

the racial insults on Donovan Ricketts and you are incorrect to say that
Ricketts is denying the gesture. In fact Ricketts witnessed the racial
abuse and so did the Police who arrested a man for it.

Of course you may believe that Donovan Ricketts is lying and you may have
reasons for that but you have not presented those reasons to me. In fact
you present nothing to back up your argument.

If you club and support is being tarred then I would suggest you look to the
supporter who has been arrested and not to me.

Oh dear, Michael's got his facts all wrong.

The fan was not arrested for racial abuse, therefore the police did not witness it
Of course Ricketts will say he witnessed it

I have dropped a note to our friend the editor as I run this past our legal guys at my work (none of which really like football so no biasedness) and they say that I'd have a definate case for liable against both the website and the webhosts. I have offered him the chance to remove the article and apologise in the next 24hours, failing this i'll see what needs to be done to take this further.

This is getting far too serious for my liking now. Obviously we can't ignore it and hope it will go away, but at the end of the day, it's only a game. Yes I want Southend to do well but if we get this sort of reaction whenever we have some controversy then it's not going to be pretty.

Yes but the mail your received from Bradford still gets the "gesture" totally wrong and still maintains racial abuse. I'd like them to name the "Southend fans" that contacted them if only to prove their existence......
