Insure and Go

used insure and go for travel insurance. my phone got stolen so i tried to claim and they told me i wasnt insured for that. Never using them again.

i think when it comes to travel insurance Insure and Go are definatly one of, if no the best value.

However, i wouldnt judge them on there car insurance just cos one person got a crappy quote.

Car insurance is so f**king random, it annoys the hell out of me. I hate i when i go to renew my policy, as i have x amount of people saying try elephant/admiral/direct line etc, cos thats who there with... A company that is cheap for your matey, may not be cheap for you... hence comparison websites for your induvidual details such as confused.com are so useful, as it saves you phoning round 19 companies induvidually.

When i renewed my insurance for example, Insure and Go was the second best price i got, but went with the 3rd best (The AA) as when i rang they gave me extra discount cos i got home insurance with them, plus there customer service is ace.... but no i might have gone with I&G as i would have got an SUFC discount... but then again... who's to say i would have got the same quote today as 2 months ago!

Its all so rando is car insurance... how do 19 companies, with exactly the same details give me quotes ranging from £300 - £1100!!

Whilst not exactly 'random' some insurance companies target different markets when it comes to insurance, especially motor insurance. Some insurers, believe it or not see their niche in high risk insurance, so if you are, say, a drunken taxi driver with a few bans and points on your licence, then they will give you the best deal (if you can get any others). Others will give a higher weighting to your postcode, age, insurance record, whatever, so that's why, as someone said before that it's horses for courses, what's good for A may not be best for B.

As for Insure and Go, sometimes you find that because of different insurers' priorities, even with a significant discount, they may not be the best deal, but there's no reason to think it isn't a genuine discount. It's just that without the discount, they choose not to be particularly competitive.

Sorry if I'm being dull, but whilst hardly an expert in the insurance industry, that's how I understand it to work.

I think I should get some good reputation points for this thread because whlst it may have an obscure link to The Mighty Shrimpers by pooling our knowledge we have managed to save a few quid. Everyone is getting a few pints on me so get in there and green me up lads and lasses!:)

How does that site work? couldn't quite make it out.

You mean Quidco.... You register there, then use the links they have to access the Pru website. Get a quote and if it's what you want, complete the transaction. About a day later (maybe 2) check 'my earnings' in the quidco site to confirm the transaction has been tracked. If has has good, if not, make sure you contact quidco and inform them. After the policy has been running for a while (mine was 2 months), £130 get paid out to quidco and the status goes to either 'Recieved or paid' (can't remember). Then you can transfer it to you bank account - Bingo...

I can't be bothered to think why the Pru wanna pay those sums of money, but who cares - If the quote is competative in the first place, then the extra £130 is a real bonus.

I've used quidco loads and things have always been tracked and paid. Last night I just purchased Car Breakdown with Green Flag which means another £20 in my Quidco Bin!
