Quote[/b] ]I didn't think Norwich were particularly loud.

As much as it pains me to say it - I havent heard a louder away support than Norwich.
Where there you go, sort of proves my point. I was in Block S of the West, just by the family stand fence and I couldn't really here much from them apart from a couple of renditions of `On The Ball' and `Yellows' (which older fans will remember is a colour that can be bellowed to good effect, unlike blue, or green or red and definitely not white!)

No doubt if you were standing in the middle of the North Bank it would have felt like the Rio Carnival in there and they all wondered why Southend had so many mute fans who stood and clapped and waved their arms about but never actually sang anything.
I sit in the South Upper, not a million miles from where you were and I thought that Norwich were pretty loud really.

I sit in the SU and the only chant that gets the whole stand singing is 'barmy army'. Thats the only song people sing which is annoying. Even when i was in West V last season, barmy army was the only song i ever heard.

And also what is it with that annoying drum the the SU? It would be alrite if it actually made some noise so the whole ground could hear it but even in sitting in the block next to it i can ardly hear the drum. I think roots hall needs louder drums so the whole ground can hear it like the pompey drums.

"The atmosphere was just inspiring" he said. "There were more than 11000 supporters and I've never played in front of such a noisy crowd."

"I know it's a bit of a cliche, but the fans really were trying to suck the ball into the net for us when we were pushing for an equaliser. They definitely played a big, big part in our fightback."

So, to the people who thought the atmosphere was poor on Tuesday, take note. The players didn't think so. I suggest you clean your ears out.
For 60 mins it was poor. I reckon the players could hear the norwich fans and thought it was us ;P

The atmosphere on Tuesday was up there with the best I've experienced at Roots Hall. Everyone was getting involved. The South Lower where I am was electric especially in the 2nd half. NIght games always bring better atmosphere but this was something special, it wasn't just the usual same chants that you usually get at home games. All the chavvy kids, for all their faults, do bring a better atmosphere. I wish it was like that for the Saturday games. The Norwich fans started off loud but faded and in the 2nd half they were very quiet and it was us making all the noise.

IMO the drums suffer the same fate as the singing - it's quite loud but doesn't travel due to the aformentioned crappy acoustics at RH.

Quality atmosphere for the first 20 minutes and the last 20 minutes, but apart from that it was pretty poor. WHen we all get behind the boys we can make a hell of a difference and Tuesday proved this beyond doubt.

This season will be one of the hardest in the club's history, so come on boys let's ''av it!!!" and give it everything we've got.
