Yea true blue you was getting it going last night really well us towards the back were reacting to you facing us and trying to get the whole block singing.
I said to the bloke next to me you ought to get a megaphone like they do in italy/spain stand at the front and start the songs off! serious i think it would work.
Also a few more big flags would be good another 5 or 6 which could be waved before the game as the lads come out and raised when we score.
Would be good if the whole block were given a blue and white bar scarf which could be in return for some sort of joining fee to be a member of the blue voice.
Just a thought this way we could all wave the scarfs and flags together would be quite a sight.
Im up for anything to create a better athmosphere!!!!
Love the scarf idea, looks great when liverpool do it at anfield

I sit in W so I can't comment for elsewhere - but two big differences in W

  • All of W was singing, Some people need that little extra 'push' to sing. Now if you are standing in the middle, back youcan see the singing and clapping as well as hear it - I think this makes some extra people sing
  • We sang, and sang LOUD as soon as Oxford scored. That doesn't happen often , and for me was a significant change . It told the team that WE BELIEVE IN THEM.

Bgood idea, but not when the ball is in play in our area which stops those behind seeing anything . cheers:smile:

I agree with this. West stand gets more involved when TBV are at the front. Though I must say that with a couple of flair players (Bosni and Hall) now jeeing us up helps imensley.

The scarf idea has been thought about many times.

The only problem is picking the right design and getting at least 50 people to part with £5-£7 to make it happen...

This for me is the big improvement. I sit in V and join in with the clapping singing etc but often when the opposition scores it all goes very quiet but on Tuesday night even as the team were lining up to kick off again, the biggest roar came from the Blue Voice and drowned out Oxford's celebrations.More of this please, I sound stupid squeaking on my own!UTB

Three reasons for the better atmosphere
1.The move down the front of the west stand.
2.The team doing well.
3.The Mosh.

4. The crowd are trying to prove Luggy wrong about it being too quiet - great bit of reverse psychology on his part.

Went to see Hamburg play recently and the away fans (E Frankfurt) were brilliantly led by two blokes with magaphones - it was great though the two of them saw nothing of the game! Surely we could invest in one or two. I would be happy to contribute.

I don't think you are allowed those in English grounds, a bit like those air horns ( Public safety of earholes etc etc)....I maybe wrong though.

Smiffy probably knows.:kev:

Acoustically the difference is minor IMHO from South stand but we can see you & liked the chant to the South stand lol
To be honest, the form on home soil has finally spilt over from away games & that players know where they are after the ins & outs of January.
You peeps still rock though!

So since we took the decision to move down the front of W Block, the lads are 3 unbeaten at home and seem to be playing much, much better.

Co-incidence?

Do you think the atmosphere as a whole has improved in recent weeks?

Has the move to the front helped spur the rest of the stadium on?

Or do you think there has been little improvement?

Please can we keep this constructive as well. No posts about the drumming is too loud and ****, **** off back to the back of the stand etc etc.

Sounds much better from the East, louder or as loud as the away fans.
We're not as frightened to sing up in the East now, it's easier to join in.

Its definately been better since it moved down the front and it feels like the players appreciate it aswell.

I still think the main problems are these

A) We are as far removed from the rest of the home support as we can be

B) The away support to visit the hall this season has been abysmal. A lack of banter with most teams

C) The rest of the stadium almost act is if the TBV are the noisy one we'll just leave that making noise stuff to them.

What we need is

A) The rest of the ground to get involved more , although this has been evident in the last few games but only when we have been winning or really going for the visiting teams jugular.

B) The positive performances to continue so we can more numbers in the ground

I would like to make a suggestion though

Would it not be better for the TBV to be located at the front of the west , but near the centre circle? That way people would join in from either side and not just from our immediate right and we would be better placed to encourage the south / east etc.

Great effort though at a time when things have been hard going at the club both on the pitch and off it.

Some good points there mate.

The one in bold I would love to happen. We could be so much better placed. But unfortunately it is hard enough to remain where we are without getting a few complaints. Let alone move right into the mix with Season Card holders. If we took our all singing/standing/general noisy antics to the halfway line. I'd expect these complaints would be increased ten fold. Block W is the only area of the ground where Season Cards are not sold. So this is really the only place we can take up residence and keep most (not all) happy.

My second game of the season on tues and the atmosphere was great! alot louder since you lot moved down the front but i do think it would be so much better behind the goal ie north bank!! but keep up the good work hopefully 3 points on sat. UTB

I think the main reason for the improved atmosphere is the improved performances on the pitch. More people in the West join in with TBV. I have noticed this in the last few weeks. That is probably what has led to more people around the ground hearing it, and joining in too.

That isn't intended to belittle what TBV are doing. After all, they're the catalyst. If they weren't singing no-one else in the West would bother regardless of how well the team play.

Basically TBV need to continue, and if the team play well, then everyone else will continue to join in.

As you say Smiffy the problems with moving into the middle would just be too many to deal with.
With where we are now, in W, it's about as good as we can get at Roots Hall without getting into the North Bank. In W, because we're a little out of the way, the all singing/standing bit seems to be tolerated to a fairly large degree, however, were that to be transferred to the middle I think we would find a lot more pressure brought to bear to remain seated at all times and I think, (know), that that would have a large impact on what we do, and how we do it.

I like the fact that we have an area of the ground where they don't sell seaso's so we're not upsetting anyone by being in their seat and that they also don't, generally, sell tickets for W anyway which quite simply means that anyone who fancies can come and join in the fun if they fancy it. If W wasn't non-seaso and non-ticketed we certainly wouldn't have been able to just make the move to the front on a whim like we did.
Personally I like it at the front, much better interaction with the players, ours, and theirs! and it certainly now feels like the noise is going somewhere rather than just bouncing around in the West.

An idea for the new stadium when it eventually happens one day in the distant future, it would be a great idea to have an area of the ground which enable fans from all sides of the ground to go and join in with the 'Singing section'.

I'm sure there will be enough room for about 25 singing sections!...
