Implausable film endings.

Indeed James. Apparantly The Harry Potter films are now the biggest grossing films of all time - and all apart from Azkhaban are crap.

Alternatively: Sufjan Stevens - genius, probably broke.
Michael Haneke (Cache / Piano Teacher) - Genuis, probably broke.

Jagger/Richards, genius, stonking rich
Coppola/Lucas/Scorcese, genius, stonking rich

You can't generalise!

Yeah, totally agree MK.

It is all about opinions yes, but i've never heard anybody say Mr Blobby is 'their favourite song of all time'. I doubt any of you have either.

People bought it as a novelty, not necessarily because they liked it.

Anyway, back to the point. I don't think the POTC series is the worst series ever made, but the endings are terrible. Even fans of the films must admit that surely...?

Genius because of the time when they were hungry and struggling. All of those now (maybe excluding Scorcese) are dull, bloated and tedious.

Stevie Wonder - 1970's relatively poor and hungry absolute genius. Stevie Wonder - 1980's - rich: shockingly dreadful, saccharine toss.

After this huge build up, and a very scary looking Clown putting you off circuses for life "It" turns out to be a big spider!
'It' is probably my favourite book and it's such a shame they had to make a film out of it. The true form of 'It' cannot be comprehended by the human mind so it is visualised as a spider (I guess as a commonly known 'fear'), it's actual form exists within the deadlights which are not shown or referred to in the film. Unfortunately the film just didn't go into sufficient detail hence why it all seemed a bit cack.

Al Green is still a genius.

ps Stevie Wonder started when he was 10. I hardly think he was poor and hungry back then.

pps I'll come back to you with more examples of why your theory doesnt hold any water. Oh I've just thought of one, JK Rowling. Still writing good literature despite being one of the richest people in the UK

While I completely concur that she was absolutely fantastic in getting kids to read, I don't rate her books or her writing. They are cliched and bloated - Phillip Pullman's are far, far FAR superior and are truly magical.

And as for Stevie - I think he was relatively poor to what he became in the 1980's - I'm sure Motown siphoned off most of his earnings in the 1960s.

I don't think we're saying that everybody who is poor is a genius, and everybody who is raking it in is cack.

My point was that just because something/someone makes a lot of cash, it doesn't necessarily make it/them good. That's all.

But again, "good" is subjective. If I like ska, I'd say The Israelites were great, if I like soul, Curtis Mayfield. If I didn't, then I wouldn't!

Exactly MK.

Making loads of money doesn't make something good.

Westlife rake it in - cack.

Mr Blobby was one of the biggest selling singles of the 1990s - cack.

Billy Paynter, £200,000 - cack.

Pirates Of The Caribbean - £millions and millions - cack.

Seriously though, i found all three films predictable and dull. The ending to the second one (i think it was) was just a massive cop out.

...and The Shawshank Redemption was a complete flop at the cinema. Mainly because it came out at the same time as Forrest Gump, which I still haven't seen.

That's the problem with a good book, it's impossible to translate the detail into a film of only, say, 2 hours...

V for Vendeta for me . The fact so much was changed anyway from the fantastic graphic novel (no he cant fall in love with Eve it dosnt make sense !!). And the whole look we're wearing mask's now Aggggh

Watchman i fear will be as badly mauled

TBH I didn't think V was that bad. Who's making Watchmen? I heard Gilliam was in the frame?

Ah you coulndt have read the graphic novel !
Not sure at the moment its coming out but Gilliam pulled out saying its possible to make one of any quality

Read it many times! I agree it wasn't a patch on it, but not a bad film - seen worse!

Just checked Watchmen - Zak Snyder who directed that 300 film? Not seen it.

More worried about His Dark Materials translation into film....
