Echo News 'I'm ready to step up' - Walker aims to make big impact for Blues

To be fair, he was the only player who came out of the Barnet game with any credit whatsoever.

With our midfield and set up I think Shearer and Sutton would struggle to nick a goal between them.

Walker was good for the first 20 minutes or so last weekend, other than that, he's done little so far imho. He's another I really want to do well, and was pleased when he signed, but he's not clicked. Not even one of our two first choice strikers currently for me.
Have any of our strikers clicked 😂

Him and Kendall worked their socks off against Barnet but what are they supposed to do when they have no service. Think it’s very harsh to slate either strikers against Barnet tbf

Absolutely, I think a more useful stat would be number of efforts on goal as a percentage of the possession in a game.

That would show, very rudamently , the effectiveness of the possession.

Still there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

CP is up against deadlines and a story count, but I agree he could angle stuff to offer a more telling account on occasions.
I would have pounced on 'stepping up'. What's stopped him thus far? Why the wait to step up?
Walker could at least offer an injury period out, and maybe more other readable things...

As for 'insists': 'vow'; 'is adamant'; 'convinced' and a fair few others, but you do drop into a pattern doing this stuff daily.

Lot of people bashing our strikers including Walker and the facts do speak for themselves with so few goals individually or collectively none scoring many but you have to ask the question. Are they all rubbish and missing loads of chances? Or just maybe they are all being starved of the ball. It hardly ever reaches them in the final 3rd to try and do something with. Our crossing, in play and from set pieces is appalling and could count on two hands the number of good through balls over the top played this season leading to goals. We need attacking midfielders and wingers who can run at defenders with pace and cross / pass (yes that means changing the system at times Sherlock Maher)

...that means obtaining some, as in loans or buys.
Changing the system for limited players isn't going to make a whole heap of difference.

Yes I completely agree. If the players we have can’t adapt then we need to bring in those that can play this way. I do believe not all are a lost cause and we’d see better results under different instructions from the manager

Maybe, there are some I would keep too.
But you can't play a game with five: and I genuinely feel there are six passengers short of promotion.
Most recruits either in the summer or later were average: I guess it was a case of shopping for the leftovers.
Others have lost their mojo; frequently mentioned are Husin and Bridge, but with good reason.
Don't shoot me down for the far-fetched comparison, and yeah worlds apart, but I saw Cruyff playing left-back at Wembley for 10 minutes in style, and the Dutch won 2-0.
A good player will adapt, even at this level.
