Of course I'm a bit biased having been born and raised here, but I feel that most would overlook Denver, and be seriously missing out by doing so.
First of all, Denver's weather is great. The summers are warm, averaging from the high 80's to the low 90's, and best of all sunny. In fact, Denver averages over 300 days of sunshine a year. The winter is unpredictable. We're bound to have a few decent snowstorms a year, and the cold snaps that always seem to accompany them, but much of the winter is comfortable, with temps in the high 40's.
For the younger and single amongst you all, Denver has a great club/bar scene in the lower downtown (LoDo) area. The population is highly educated, and it was just rated as one of the best American cities for singles. The women here are also gorgeous, and as my friend who visited from England last year can vouch for, they love English accents.
Culturally, Denver might be lacking a bit, which is not surprising really seeing as how it isn't exactly the oldest city, but there are some good museums and other things of interest around. One thing that is generally overlooked is Denver's position in the country. There isn't a city as large as Denver within 600 miles, so Denver hosts many things that people are likely to only expect seeing in cities like NYC, Chicago, and LA. This includes traveling museum exhibits, plays, films, music, etc.
Most of life in Denver is centered around the outdoors, as you might expect for a city at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. In the winter there is some of the finest skiing/snowboarding in the world, plus the allure of mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, etc. for the summer months.
And the final reason, beer. Coloradans love beer, and it is no coincidence that more beer is brewed in Colorado than any other state. For those with simple tastes Coors is incredibly cheap here, and for those with more refined tastes the variety of brews from local microbreweries are almost endless.
Denver is always rated as one of the most desirable places to live, and for me at least, that is no surprise.
Now, where did I put my application for the Denver Tourism Bureau...
