Question Ian Harte?

He played for Levante in Spain for a few seasons, did well & was highly rated. He was missing football in this country & stupidly went to Sunderland!

So highly rated, in fact, in his final season there he did not make a single appearance and was released from his contract 12 months early.

Haha, thought it was only a matter of time before Harte's name would be mentioned on here.

Ian Harte has never had any pace, and hasn't played much football at all in recent memory. The only reason he was considering St. Mirren was so as to have more of an opportunity to catch the eye of Gordon Strachan.

His time at Levante was a complete joke - sort of like Steve Finnan's at Espanyol. Shame the way his career has gone, as I was always a fan of his when he pulled on the green shirt over here, but I very much doubt (a) he will come to Southend, and (b) we would want him anyways. Still, if Tilly wants to add to the Irish quota at the club, i'm all for it :)

Injured & homesick! I should add, his family couldn't do the Spanish lifestyle for being homesick!

He may have lost his way a little since leaving Leeds, but he must be worth a try. He's better than Herd, he can help Herd, he can take & score free kicks for fun & he can take a decent corner (something of a novelty for us!) In a pay to play basis he would be a good short term investment!

find the best young left back in the conference / div 2 and sign him. he'll cost less and want it more.
