I was thinking (atmosphere wise)

I have no problem with a drum as long as its not being banged near me!

that's the problem. Even I would get annoyed with it being banged by me every week. the only area that it probably wouldn't be aproblem is right down by the north-west. It would be terrific if the club helped us out each week and provided a drum for the lads down there to smack... the best time ive heard it was Blackpool away 2 seasons ago when they had about 4 in unison at the back of their big stand. sounded brilliant!

i've got a couple of drums (i'm an orchestral percussionist) and have always thought about bringing one down and maybe getting a ticket in the v-block or something and just banging it all game...

I know DtS has a accordion and if anyone has a recorder I could borrow, I used to be able to play "Jingle Bells" back in the days when old skool was proper old skool. What are your main influences? Are we looking at a jazz-funk fusion sound here or nu-rave?

I have a "Triangle" I could add to the Orchestra:p

but then im a wooss and like to just chillout!

You should do it mate! Makes the atmousphere that much better.

I used to play a drum with some vigour in the South Lower way back in the 96/97 season and it was quite effective at ahem...drumming up some atmosphere (hence the former screen name of 'Benfleet Drum Boy'!). Thereafter however I made various moves around the ground, eventually culminating in the purchase of my season ticket seat in the Upper, where there appear to be a number of miserable old farts. I therefore doubt this would catch on this particular stand, as much as I would like to see it make a comeback!

Two spare seats next to me in East Reds right up the back.
Banging a drum will be greatly appreciated in the press box as they glare out of the window and see you and yer sticks.
Better hope they don't send out Paul Clark to ask that the noise be turned down.

Fcuk your luck matey

the bongo thingy in the south upper was pretty good but wasn't the loudest really. i think it would be such a good idea to get a drum down. be really good.

against spurs their drum bloke got them all going. whoevers got one bring it the home and away games!!!!!!

Shame the drums can all go up on the camera scaffolding! Our own orchestra pit! Sky Sports News would really love that - try making a report to the studio with that going on!:D

The South Upper Bongo was getting louder (after the purchase of the 3rd and biggest bongo) but in all honestey it got f*****g annoying sitting directly in front of it and the majority of people in that part of the stand are not chanters really, so it was on its own most of the time.

Could have done with it last night - the atmosphere was cack .Though the East Stand did burst into a rendition of 'Ring of Fire' , if my ears did not deceive me .

Way back in the day I used to stand in the south lower with a little drum and it was good fun and it got everyone going. Anyway with the atmosphere getting better and the guy who had a decent drum in the west dissapearing I was thinking maybe we should sort something out???

Opinions please guys?

That's where I used to go in my early days of supporting Southend. There was a little group who stood near the middle of the South Lower where the stairs are.

You don't see drums at many grounds these days and I don't think it would change the atmosphere hugely. A lot of the chants don't need a drum. I think drums are banned at some grounds too.
