You are absolutely right, BennettUTB. The fact that the club has breached its contractural obligations to the players and staff is a very serious matter and cannot be glossed over. The Chairman needs to explain this and indicate what the board is doing to deal with this situation. As every manager claims, morale in the dressing room is a vital component for any successful side, and it is also discouraging for supporters to see the club embargoed so soon after a money-spinning Wembley appearance.

I think we, the fans, need to find out why this club is such a money sink!! I don't see how it is even possible to spend £300k more than you earn in a year anyway at this level, considering the players are probably on the league 2 average of £1000 (I think) a week.

How can we expect to sign players with the promise, "We MAY pay you. Sometimes"

23 players at around £1,000 a week is around £1.2m a year. From ticket sales in the 2010/11 season, I believe our income was around £1.1m. Northampton's wage bill was around £2.5m this season, and Swindon's wage bill was around £4m this season.

I would also be very surprised if our wage bill was that low considering that we will only have a few players under £1k a week (youth players and players like Prosser and Leonard), but we have had a fair few players since being in League 2 that could have taken well over £1k a week (Paterson, Harris, Eastwood, Dickinson, Grant, Spencer etc.).

There will be other sources of income (possibly amount to another 800k to £1m depending on how we do if cups and such), but then bonuses will be paid to players as well as many other expenses.

One way we can sign players is to be viewed as a "stepping stone". For example, a 20 year old is released from a higher team and we offer them a small wage on a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd, and tell them that if they work hard in training and on match days they will gain a move up the football ladder and massively improve their wage. It's a win-win, they get game time and improve, while we have a sell-able asset on a low wage long contract.

Northampton couldn't get out of League 2 on a £2.5m yearly wage budget. Yet Steve Tilson gets lambasted by a large section of our support for failing to keep Southend in the Championship on an identical yearly wage budget.

Lolz.

Hardly a large section of our support.Just a few keyboard warriors on SZ.

Also bear in mind that the players wage bill is not the only cost the club has. Business rates, utilities (God knows what the electric bill is), travelling expenses plus the non-players wages for all the people needed to run the club.

There is so much stuff needed in order to run a football club. If people could actually have a proper insight into what it actually takes to happen so that the squad can play on match days, they may see things through different eyes.

Rich chairman aside, i really would like to no if we are top of the embaroe league in div 2, if so why. other clubs might also have as much problems as us, but i must say i havnt noticed them in and out of court. I no im going to hear cashflow, cashflow, but how do others manage, a lot of them on less gates than us.

Think you just answered your own question there.

The accounts for our relegation year showed a wage bill of 3.3m

Dont forget that what is paid to the players is not the end of the expenditure with employers N I and the insurances related to players having to be included

I see the club are advertising again for a ticket office manager. Think this must be the 3rd time in a year. Still I suppose if you don't get your salary on time then I would look for alternative employment

Slightly off topic and I have said this before a couple of times , but I think this thread (like many) illustrates that it would be very helpful to many of us to have a sticky that only the mods could touch with updates on major events. We have one on player contracts which is updated. One for the stadium for example would be really helpful.

very quick example of what I mean below
