How vital is Rochford's nod?

I have been getting some good natured stick on here for saying all along today was a rubber stamping day !!!! I'm tempted to say I TOLD YOU SO !! but that would be silly !! However with regard to Rochford D.C. ... well I'll put my neck on the block again and say that the ink pad in Rayleigh is being opened as we speak . If Rochford say "no" then RM will say he will appeal , which would mean it being referred to John Prescotts office , this would be VERY expensive in legal costs to defend even to the point of bankruptcy so they would back down before it got to that which in turn means they will say YES tomorrow .

Didn't think he actually did any work for the benefit of the country anymore? :D

Personally think the plans for Roots Hall need toning down and not surprised they were deferred.

7 storey buildings in Southend ? No thanks!

What Id like to know is how much of the money from all these flats goes to Southend United and how much to Ron's company ?

I assume that not all the money raised from the project will go into the club (which I wouldnt have an issue with anyway, without their backing we would have got no-where)

The club doesn't own Roots Hall. What the club is supposed to be getting is a new stadium, debts wiped out and a share of income from the retail at Fossets Farm. I doubt there will be any 'cash' from Roots Hall to spend.

Not quite, there is a right to appeal before it goes to the ODPM.

I stayed for the second meeting regarding Roots Hall. It was rejected, yes - but the Chairman pointed out that rejecting the plans for it as they stand (which are only an OUTLINE proposal) would NOT mean than Roots Hall area wouldn't be redeveloped. On the contrary, all the council agreed that they wanted flats/a supermarket but that they would have to be re-negotiated and that we would have to 'go back the drawing board'.

Considering that Roots Hall can't be knocked down until we are fully moved in and playing at Fossett's, I don't think this is a big concern and will be sorted out in the background whilst Fossett's is being built.

Yep, the Echo this morning confirms the RH development has been deferred...

The council are all for re-development of the site though, just a few tweaks need to be made to the plans...

Its just a case of putting houses there rather than flats, and a smaller 'Express' type Supermarket rather than a large megastore that could potentially draw custom away from the town..

All small points that Ron will iron out in the coming months...
