How much do you spend on your loved one's!?

One of the (many) reasons I loathe Christmas - forced to buy **** presents that nobody wants or needs.

For example, my niece's boyfriend bought her a chocolate fountain last year that I BET has spent all year in a cupboard gathering dust.

Waste of f**king money....roll on Jan 2nd.

Do what our family do then.
Have a "not-so Secret Santa" draw & then you just get a designated family member to buy for spending a set value (usually £50 on them). That way you don't get lumbered with 7 or 8 tatty presents that will gather dust! The kids all still get bits and pieces. This is the 5th year we've done it & it really works well!

I'll be popular this year, got my Mother-in-law an iPod shuffle!

Whilst reading through a few of the posts in The Pub forum today i came across Sam's post. She was talking about getting a PS3 and some games for her boyf and thats fair enough. Come the end of the thread, Sam announces that she has spent £360 on her boyf's Christmas present. Now im not sure how long you 2 have been together, but i dont think i would dream of spending that much on my GF come X-mas time.

Now my question to you is, how much do you spend on your loved one at Christmas!? Am i tight **** for not spending close to £400 or am i just being sensible and spending my money on myself!?

Vote now!

Kev

I was wondering when someone would comment on this!

Even though I have bought this for him, I actually wanted one too lol so there was a bit of a hidden agenda there.....

Thing is, I dont have a lot of xmas presents to buy for people, just mum, dad and brother and a couple small things for mates kids but thats it. If I had a lot more people to buy for then I prob wouldnt spend as much but I dont really think too much about what things cost, Im the type of person that if I want something I get it and dont think about the price!

Im lucky in that I have massive overtime rates at work and have been doing alot lately so once all that starts rolling in I will be sweet!

By the way I do not think you are tight for not wanting to spend near that much as it is alot of money. Everyones different I guess.

This year ive paid for my girlfriends flight to thailand which was £470. Its a joint xmas and birthday present which aint bad conceding last year i went travelling and didnt have much money to splash out on presents for her and she brought me a video ipod and i brought her a couple of dvds.

Usually id say about £100 is the max id spend.

im beeing nice to my girlfriend, and listening to her conversations for the first couple of hours on christmas day, she will be over the moon with this and forget all about presents

Dont get me wrong, its not that i dont have that amount of money to spend but i just choose not to. I'd rather get her things when she needs them (especially whilst she's at Uni) rather than spend a load of X-mas!

Personally im around the £100 mark myself. Glad im not being a tightwad!

:D

It's all a perception of time.....it may be a PS3 now Sam, but it ten years time you'll be buying him socks and pants while he buys some last minute perfume that'll remove skin, and flowers from a petrol station :D

Or it goes the other way and you feel you have to outdo yourself each year. PS3 now, in ten years you'll find yourself having to buy a space shuttle or a open cast copper mine or something just to keep your standards up.

Well your prob right so best to make the most of it while you can! I will have to let you know what he ends up getting me!! Oh and just for the record, the day will never come where I let him wear pants hahahaha.

Never let him wear pants! Good lord, commando all the time in this weather???

I think Sam has taken the correct stance for a woman, Invest a bit of money at xmas, birthdays to win him over, move into HIS place and then bleed him dry after a couple of years she has got bored and decided to s*** someone else. Its what women do..............

And Breathe...
