I thought Sainsbury's were meant to be picking up our debts, as and when they fall due? (I'm almost 100% sure I remember hearing that from someone high up) so why would we need to default or delay payments at all?

Sainsburys didn't pay over the money in January that the Club were expecting, probably to force the Club to seek approval to build the three-sided ground which has been a contingency plan for a year. Therefore the only cash the Club had at its disposal was the gate money which was used to pay the first team and wasn't enough to cover some of the fringe players and the non-playing staff, or our tax bill. February's gate money again would have represented a pool of funds which would need to be used to fight fires where and when it was needed the most - it could be used to clear the obligations which had us under an embargo if needed but that would mean that other bills couldn't be paid.

It looks like in the last week or so the money from Sainsburys has come through again, hence people getting paid and the outstanding debt to HMRC being cleared.

I'm not ashamed at all.

Over the years I've done what I can to support the club, including working for a season unpaid selling (or trying to sell) sponsorship and advertising. In a previous career, I was in travel, and used to book holidays and trips for the players and some of the Directors, Vic Jobson and John Adams included, plus David Webb. I was invited into the Directors box as Vic's guest on several occasions but only took him up on the offer once. He said that anytime I wanted a ticket for a match, just ask. I never did and said that the club needed all the money they could get so as a supporter I would be happy to pay my money across the turnstiles like everyone else. I buy a shirt every year and renew my season ticket regardless, although like Firestorm if my personal priorities and responsibilities meant that I had to give that up then so be it.

I support my club.

Why would I feel ashamed?
