I used to steal women's tights from clothes lines but it is supporting southend that makes me feel dirty.

distanced, disenfranchised, disgusted. That's off the field covered

Surprisingly pleased, passionate as ever, still an outside chance off play-offs though it doesn't matter to me where we finish I'm happy with the season taking everything into context. That's on the field done.

D.........i.............s............c.............ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Let's all have a disco! Is probably going to do the rounds at Sincil Bank. That is totally irrelevant apart from the fact it is my first awayday of the season. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

watched Brush and Tilson on the Lincoln website - 28 minute long interview - sort of gut wrenching to see Sir Steve - "I;ll always support the club" still hurting and not paid - and of course Brush pretty much confirms that it was all doomed from aug 2009 - and out of control by christmas - players still owed money - players not paid for months and months and RM undermining Tilson all the time

Spencer tells it how it really was - no holds barred there ..... says RM carried on like Don Corleone -

Sir Steve won't be shaking hands with anyone .......

well worth a watch - if you really interested in what went on

and if anyone thinks I was talking bollox about RM wanting the relegation all along - well whatever -

I don't know about everyone else but I am just tired of all this... Why don't we beat a different drum... I love Southend United. Full stop... That's the way it is. I'll support them no matter what. It's about our story of why we support this club. This negative stuff doesn't encourage support only discouragement and resentment.
My other passion is the St.Kilda Football Club in Australia. I can't remember when I started supporting them, i just always have, for over 40 years. It just part if my blood, my culture, my story. My mum who has passed on has left me that passion. It's part of our story!
This is despite the fact that they are the worst performed team of any club in Australian Rules Football, ever! I watched them every few weeks at their home ground from around 1979 to around 1983 and I don't remember them winning one of those games. I just remember turning to my mates after a game and saying, "well we support a s..t team don't we?" we would laugh and look forward to when we could go again.
Look them up and you'll see just how painful it's to pour your hard earned into this club that really never brings home the bacon. But I love this club as they are part of who I am. All the charachters and stories they have produced, in hindsight have made it all worthwhile.
Supporting Southend is the same. Clubs like these are like a roller coaster ride. You think you are going to crash, throw up, even die... But when you get of, you see that your ok, so back on you go for anther ride.
I'll never stop being a sainter or a shrimper, cause it's who i am, it's my story... So for me let the ride continue, for who knows where it we will end up!? Have an opinion; sure... But don't spoil the the ride for others because your feeling a little sick. :nope: Lift your arms and scream, "bring it on." Let our story be told.:clap:

Can't rep you again apparently but what a fantastic post.....

I'd feel ashamed if I were in any way responsible for the club's problems, like if I had been entering the ground using a child price ticket for example. Since I'm not, I don't.

I feel bad for Tilly, who is a legend (*ducks and covers*) and deserves to see every penny he's owed.

I feel upset that the club is on its knees financially. I feel pessimistic about its chances of recovery and powerless to do anything significant to help it. I feel disappointed in the people who not only run my Club but run football in this country from top to bottom.

I don't feel ashamed or embarassed or dishonest or grubby or any other hyperbolic adjective. This is where we are.

I don't think we as fans should feel ashamed. The off field antics are as a result of how Ron does his business which i don't believe one single fan would defend. They are currently made even worse by his having no spare cash even if he wanted to pay. I want the club to move forward, but even if the 3 sided stadium is built, we are unlikely to do so to any degree until we have a new owner.

I am a concerned that I have not been able to do enough to support my club financially so that they have ended up in financial straits so dire that morals have to take second place to survival. I am dissapointed that I have left all the responsibility to the welfare of something I percieve as mine, to a series of individuals who do not have the resources to achieve what I want without contributing more.
That said, I have had other responsibilities which I have prioritised .

I have put personal financial issues before that of my football club, I have had to, have taken discounts which have reduced the income of the club, not purchased product which, had I done so would have helped improve the financial position (albeit in a very small way) but these were nessecary decisions I needed to make, however I am slightly ashamed that I expected other people to pick up the tab.

The one thing I do feel ashamed about though, is the abuse I heaped , in my younger days, on The Rubin brothers and Vic Jobson for not running the club the way I wanted it run, for not putting in more money whilst i sat back and contributed the absolute minimum when it suited me .

well reading last night about Dundee FC going in to admin (for not the first time) and paying creditors 6p in the pound I don't feel in the least bit ashamed.
You cannot and should not take responsibility for things outside your control. We all need to get a grip.
PS what an awesome post by Southend4eva

Says you got to be a member to view the videos. Are they anywhere else?

As for the highlighted bit, let me play devil's advocate for a minute...

Over the last few weeks, we've been light on bodies, and people have been saying we need reinforcements, if we're to have a good crack at the play-offs.
Unfortunately, we were unable to bring people in because of a transfer embargo.

However, we were told/lead to believe that the money was there for us to pay off the debt, but we chose not to. Instead we had to "prioritise", whatever that meant.

The question is, if we were able to pay it off weeks ago, and have the embargo lifted, so we could bring much needed bodies in, why didn't we?

Hhmmmm :sherlock:

At a guess, I'd suggest that we had another tax bill due which we could have not paid in order to use the money instead to pay the outstanding wages, get out of the embargo and sign a player if there was one which Sturrock felt we needed desperately enough to incur another winding up petition.

What he said!

The powerless bit gets me the most, I still buy my season ticket knowing full well due to my exiled nature I won't get to all the games, I still do the Blues Lottery, I still buy the shirts, pens, cufflinks, train ticket holder etc etc, I bring friends to games; but I still feel that I could and should be doing more, it frustrates not knowing what that could be.

But I am proud to be a Southend fan, always have been, always will be.

I thought Sainsbury's were meant to be picking up our debts, as and when they fall due? (I'm almost 100% sure I remember hearing that from someone high up) so why would we need to default or delay payments at all?

 Superb posts by Southend4eva, Firestorm, Beefy & Gremlin.

If football clubs could be saved by sheer passion of fans we'd never be in danger. It's horrendous that Steve Tilson still hasn't been paid but there's very little we can do. Am I ashamed to be associated (as a fan) with SUFC? Never. I won't let RM take my pride in being a Shrimper.

Echo that 100%
