... BUT ...
A good friend of mine returned to the UK on Wednesday so we all went out to a local restaurant on Tuesday night; I can't remember at which point we decided to have a go at drinking the entire contents of the wine cellar but I do know that I was dancing with owner's wife to the dulcit tones of Stevie Wonder at approx. 1.40am as we have video evidence. (We also have video evidence of the owner's wife snogging another female guest - tongues 'n' all - but that's another story!) I awoke Wednesday morning with THE mother of all hangovers and spent the entire day lying on the settee in a shaky sweat whilst the other half was less than sympathetic (as they always are). I tried to cover up much of the pain by claiming that I must have picked up a bug as well but those kind of plaintive pleas never work with the missus, do they? No amount of Fanta Naranja and salted crisps could resolve the situation (and having to chop wood for the fire only made the experience even less pleasant) and I still feel frigging awful now ... on Friday morning. Roll on Christmas, eh?
