Hearts - Graham Rix

I was really dissapointed when I heard that Rix was the new manager. What must Burley be thinking now, cos he's miles better than that dodgy bloke?

Thing is we dont know the whole story tho. He may have resigned for other reasons than stated etc!

I'm also nursing one helluva hangover following last night's Old Firm win for the Hoops. Jameson's on a school night, never a good idea....
Hopefully the Huns will exact their revenge on saturday enabling Hibs & Hearts to continue their assaults on the summit of the SPL
They would have a hard job seeing as it's next saturday

Glasgow Evening Times says tonight McLeish will be gone within 48 hours & that he's been summoned to David Murray's (the Rangers chairman) villa in the south of France to discuss his pay-off!

As MtS said I reckon it might possibly be Burley for Ibrox. The paper reckoned on Curbishley being a definite but there's no chance of that IMHO. They won't be able to afford to pay-off McLeish & a get-out fee for any manager currently in a job.

Nice to see you were celebrating James, lets hope the Super Hoops continue their current vein of form next Saturday!

All to do with Romanov doing an Uncle Vic and refusing to agree a defined bonus structure for any success that may come their way at the end of the season as well as (allegedly) Burley still having a bit of a booze problem!

Also, Vialli is being touted as the new Hearts Director of Football having worked with Rix previously at Chelsea!

Now here's a thought - will we able to catch the game in Nottingham before the Southend match?

(I also need to find a bookies so I can catch the Betfair Chase!)

Very good point, well made.  Presumably there's at least one Irish pub in Nottingham that would show it.

I bet it will be hard to find in a lot of places though as no doubt there will be a 12.45 EPL game on Sky or Prem+ that will clash!

Those last two jokes are absolutely diamond. Just sent them round to all the Scots in the office

Says in the local press up here tonight, Romanov considered reappointing Burley as he didn't realise how strongly the fans felt about his dismissal.

A total mega-lo-maniac with no football brain!

This saga has just plumbed new depths!

Hearts will never attract a top class manager while Romanov remains. He's got the money to make them a force but he clearly doesn't have a scooby about how to treat people.

Vialli is still odds-on to be the new D of F at Tynecastle though.

(Off-topic) are you going to Forest Sat WB?

Unfortunately not, got some one in doing my kitchen this weekend. To be honest the next match I'll make is the Southend - Bournemouth clash on New Year's eve.

Was going to ask if the Scots exiles are coming down for the away match at Bournemouth in April? You can fly from Prestwick direct or to Southampton from Glasgow. Should be nice & cheap if you book early

I have thought about that already.
It's a shame (for me) there's not a flight back up in the evening though, with a new baby I think my chances of weekends away are fairly limited for this season.

There's also a new route from Edinburgh to Bournemouth with Globespan (flights are 19p + tax just now).

I actually worked out I could fly to Bournemouth Sat am, watch the game, then go Ryanair to Dublin then change for a flight back to Edinburgh which gets in 10pm Sat night but it seems a right faff for 2 hours of football & 4 hours pre-match drinking!

then why not do the overnighter? The flights leave Edinburgh at 7.50am and the return flight leaves Bournemouth at 9.30am. If you book now you'll pay peanuts.

I'm trying nto get my brother in law down for the match and i'm going to fly up for a Hibs game. At that price it'd be rude not to.

I might try & negotiate a weekend away with the Mrs.
One of my close friends is wanting me to go on his 4 night Stag to the Algarve though & I fear that will use up all my "leave from family" credits.

Really liked Easter Rd when I went last year for the Leeds pre-season friendly. Great pubs near the ground & pizza slice & chips for a bargain £2.50 inside

Next time I'm up that way It would be good to meet up for a match. Agree about Hibs, always good pre match atmos up there and some top boozers around Easter Road.

Yeah definitely, sounds good. I didn't like to say straight out in case it was a family only thing!

My former colleagues are trying to get a pre-Xmas get together of Partick Thistle v Alloa Athletic off the ground. Oh the joys of Scottish Div2 footie, it makes the Ryman League look like La Primera Liga!!!

I have to say though, I do fancy being one of the 300 or so hardy souls that go to (my local team) Albion Rovers!
