Health Question

Not taking your pills is not good advice Al,you may think it works out ok but it does not.Diabetis only gets worse never better, its a condition that you have to control or you will suffer(as i have)in the long run as i was told 15 years ago but of course i knew better, wish id listened.
If you dont control then its a downward drop and trust me its a long one.
Sorry to preach but i really wish someone had made me see sense all those years ago.

Totally agree.
Diabetes is a serious condition and the effects of high blood sugars can be very serious if they arent regulated.....
heart disease, blindness, kidney failure and foot ulcers (leading to amputation in some cases) are just some problems with high blood sugar levels over a period of time.
You must follow advise from your GP/clinic with regards your diabetes and Im sure they will give some advise on diet/exercise if you want to lose some weight.
Please be sensible Scott. You will reap the benefits in the end.

I am 23 years old and have abused my body for most of my younger life.

I finally woke up to the fact that I have to do something about it so I have been swimming every morning at 7am then going to work and then having 30 mins on the treadmill at home around 6pm after work. When I started these were my stats as printed out on one of them digital machines that measures weight, BMI, Fat Index and Fat Mass

Week 1 Results...

Date 09.01.09

Weight - 19st 12lb (126.1kg)

B.M.I - 35.6

Fat Index - 38.5%

Fat Mass 48.5kg

Now that's what I started at so as you can see there is allot of work ahead to do now here is week 2 results and what worries me is that am I on the the right path from these results below the weight has gone up! though fat mass and index has fallen but BMI has risen so am I doing something wrong?

Week 2 Results...

Date 16.01.09

Weight - 20st 0lb (127.2kg)

B.M.I - 36.3

Fat Index - 33.3%

Fat Mass 42.3kg

Any advice would be great thanks.

oh and before anybody starts this is a serious post just looking for advice

Im 5 years younger to you and I'm certain everyone else will have better advice but I'll say something anyway-

Drink, clearly the main problem. A few months ago I stopped drinking for 6 weeks- the effects? I lost just over a stone. And that is without radically altering my diet!

I'm currently stopping drinking- but with so many 18ths around it's not easy!

On the drinkaware website- I calculated what was exactly in my drinking session last Friday night...

2200 calories just from beer.

My friend who was drinking hairdresser drinks (wkd etc) consumed.

7600 calories from alcopops.

Although in fairness he did drink alot, and maybe too much. But still that really brings it home.

Now I'm guessing from how much you post on here you like a drink, and I won't guess as to how much you drink a week or on how many days but if in one day you drink as much as I did last Friday you have consumed just under your daily allowance. I found this all pretty shocking. Really brought it home for me.

So drink would be my first bit of advice.

Then there is the more obvious:

Running
Swimming
Bike riding
Joining a Gym

As I said, I'm sure I know less than everyone else but just thought I could see If I could be of any help.
