I remember the wonderfully named Roscoe D'Sane twice missing when it seemed easier to score.

We had both him and Steve Kabba on trial at the same time and picked the wrong one.

Think that was the Ben Abbey 1-0 victory, but the games merge into one.

I went a few years ago and I remember several massive banners saying 'Breathe on em Salop'. No idea what that means - I think Salop is the old name for Shrops but I wasn't aware of acid breath being rife in the town.

Well I was one of the other six. I remember (some of) it well.

Had been a few years earlier for, I think, a midweek League Cup game.
The only time I went(probably with Mick)was for a League Cup match in Sept.'69 we drew 2-2(Gary Moore & Mike Beesley scored the goals. Att.4949), 5 days later at Roots Hall we beat them 2-0 with goals from Mike Beesley & Sammy McMillan. Att.10,924. In the next round we lost 2-1 at Bradford City with a goal scored by Gary Moore. This was the same season that we played Brentford in the 1st.Round 2-2(Chisnall & McMillan)at home, then 0-0 away and a third match which was played at Millwall winning 3-2 with a Sammy McMillan hat-trick. When we played Shrewsbury in the Cup they were in the league above us, we did not play them in the league between October 1965 until March 1973.

I have fond memories of Shrewsbury. I learned to drive an articulated lorry and passed my HGV class 1 test there many years ago...all in the space of 5 days. 2 best moments.....turning right onto the Welsh bridge by practically driving into the front door of the house opposite before yanking the wheel around...and going through a red light at a roadworks on my test because I reckoned the traffic sensor was not working and stuck on red. Never been to the football ground... but Shrewsbury is fine by me :-)

Just got back and we spent a lovely weekend in Shrewsbury, as booked for orginal game and we did not cancel hotel.
Blinding place and lovely pubs.
Went couple of years ago with TZ. Cant go now tom.
Did get some funny looks this weekend with my S.U.F.C. coat on.

A Salopian is a native of Shropshire apparently. http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/salopian

This is what I think the situation is .......... Salop is the older name for Shropshire and there is still an brewery that bears the name ........ but I also think that salop is a french word for a woman that earns a living from sex and when it came to the U.K. joining the common market it was decided that Salop would be dropped in favour of Shropshire ........

......... now that might be a load of codswallop ............ but I like the sound of it.

Don't be fooled by the name. The Salopian Brewery is quite modern and barely 20 years old !

Can be sampled at the Prince of Wales, about 20 mins walk from ground.

Another match when many will probably remember is 2nd February 1991 Shrewsbury 0-1 Southend (Brettie Angell).

Yep, I was there. Only time I've been.

Went down with a crowd of us for the weekend, including an unforgettable night on the town on the Saturday night.

I remember going to a re arranged fixture to Shrewsbury. Can't remember the exact numbers of away fans but it would have been around 30 of us there!

Yeah it was called off on the Saturday and I think they rearranged it for the Tuesday 3 days later! and your right was about 30 fans there
