Rochford FC - scouse rovers 3 - 2

A scorching day at Rochford FC Arena, where 11111 spectators were in place for today´s match. Rochford had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Statton - Brush, Hall, Hunter - Swinton, Olague, Allen, MacEachin, Loftus - Martin, Magallanes.

scouse tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Martin - Wijayawickrama, Ramakrishnan, Galt, Johnson - Erdel-Jan, MacKichan, Kirkpatrick, Vaidhyanathan - Smalls, Pepper.

Rochford saw most attack opportunites on the wings and were directing their passes that way. A well placed corner kick from Mitch Statton was followed by Mitch Swinton´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant goal for Rochford. The result now 1-0. A really bad tackle inside the penalty area in the 11th minute gave the referee no other choice but to award visiting scouse the penalty shot. Jack MacKichan knocked home 1 - 1. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why Robert Loftus found unusually much space for his snappy footwork. The referee showed scouses Amrish Vaidhyanathan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. scouse took the lead after 25 minutes with 1 - 2. Christopher Pepper placed the ball out of reach for the home sides keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Rochfords Lawrence Hall got himself booked after a foul. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Rochford held the ball, with a clear 65 percent possession rate.

Sivachidambaram Ramakrishnan toiled away as usual, but the heat made him exhausted and he looked kind of pale at the end of the game. After a fatal mistake from the away teams right side defense in the 65:th minute, an alert Tam Martin bagged the ball, evening the score to 2 - 2. With 72 minutes played Mitch Statton almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but visitors Claude Martin was onto it, grabbing the would be break through ball. scouse´s Charles Wijayawickrama refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon in the 74:th minute. With 75 minutes played Mitch Statton almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but visitors Claude Martin was onto it, grabbing the would be break through ball. 77 minutes into the game Lawrence Hall had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Martin MacLugash. Rochford took the lead in the 77:th minute of the game by 3 to 2, as Tam Martin elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. scouses David Galt got himself booked after a foul. Martin MacLugash of Rochford received a yellow card in the 83rd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Rochford held the ball, with a clear 76 percent possession rate.

Rochford´s best player was Gregory Hunter. Mitch Swinton on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important scouse player was Christopher Pepper. David Galt on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 2.

With the aid of Hattrick Manager managed to get a 6-0 win over the team above me

14712 spectators had found their way to stairways Arena, despite the heavy rain. stairways had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Goulding - MacCasland, MacShannachan, Cullen - Powell, Daniels, Brinkley, Baxendale - Jones, de las Nieves Vi, Stewart.

Pearlstars had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. Lineup: Arnau - Bisping-Bau, Hong, Picariello, Hartman - Weigall, Folguera, Shew, Luchnick - Korpi , Olmedo.

stairways strategy involved pressing and cutting off attack angles of their opponents from all over the field. stairways's ability to press their opponents all over the field paid off frequently. Pearlstars´s 0 - 1 goal came from a questionable penalty. Leyton Weigall struck that one home without a second thought. Gabriel Olmedo of Pearlstars received a yellow card in the 33rd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Steve Jones, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. Ullrich Bisping-Bau increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 2. The referee showed Pearlstarss Leigh Shew the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 2. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Pearlstars, with an impressive 62 percent possession of the ball.

In the game´s 70:th minute a free kick by Leyton Weigall found it´s way through the home side´s poorly assembled defensive formation, making Pearlstars´s lead 0 - 3. stairways´s David Goulding left the field after 77 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Mitchell MacCorkle. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 82nd minute Pearlstars goal, making it 0 - 4. Gabriel Olmedo was noted down as the scorer. By now Pearlstars were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. The referee showed Pearlstarss Michael Picariello the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The away team´s Marc Folguera took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 86:th minute increasing Pearlstars´s lead to 0 - 5. Walid Hartman of Pearlstars received a yellow card in the 89:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The away team´s Lippo Korpi took advantage of a mistake to the home side´s right in the 89:th minute increasing Pearlstars´s lead to 0 - 6. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Pearlstars, with an impressive 67 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating stairways player was without a doubt Agnew MacCasland. Thomas MacShannachan on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Pearlstars player was without a doubt Leyton Weigall. Leigh Shew was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 6.

Dowie Palace - Southend United FC 1 - 5

View game: HT Live
Date: 30/05/2004 at 18.00
MatchID: 16615564
Arena: Dowie Palace Arena
Crowd: 7000

Due to an all-day shower, 7000 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Dowie Palace Arena. Palace started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. They fielded: Morenete - Schacke, O'Connell, Haines, Khanum, Tiley - Regis, O'Brien, Lalitha - Thomson, McDonald.

Southend tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Loodus - Lunde, Staples, O'Hagan - Herwig, Rothwell, Ruskin, Rorison, MacLean - Panagopoulos, Tiernan.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Palace. Ronnie O'Hagan received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 3rd minute and almost caused an opponent to score. There wasn´t much opportunity for rapid movements this wet day, which hindered Ronnie O'Hagan in particular. Southend took the lead in the games 25:th minute with 0 - 1 after some elegant plays down the middle. Jacob Ruskin was the scorer. In the 29:th minute Palaces Robbie Haines received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. John O'Connell made a superb strike at the goal in the 29:th minute with a long shot coming in from straight in front of the goal, but one of the visitors defenders got a foot in and warded it off to a corner. Steve Thomson pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, in the 35:th minute, wove through the guests whole central defense line and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. Stephen Regis of Palace received a yellow card in the 37:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 38 minutes Southend put themselves up by 1 - 2 as Clyde Rorison finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post. In the games 41st minute Palace´s John O'Connell fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked John O'Connell for taking a dive. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 43rd minute Southend goal, making it 1 - 3. Christos Panagopoulos was noted down as the scorer. The structure of the game started to change as Southend decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The game was close to savage at times, and Palace`s Stephen Regis received a second yellow card in the 43rd, his ticket out of the game. The player down was Andrew Herwig. The Southend bench looked worried a while but in the end he managed to get up. 1 - 3 was the half-time score. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Southend, with an impressive 67 percent possession of the ball.

Ronnie O'Hagan increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 1 - 4. Ronnie O'Hagan came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Ricardo Morenete, hitting the bar. Christos Panagopoulos came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Ricardo Morenete, hitting the bar. Ronnie O'Hagan of Southend received a yellow card in the 73rd minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Palace´s Jaime O'Brien left the field after 76 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Andy Young. Palace had obvious problems in finding their positions. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 85:th minute Southend goal, making it 1 - 5. Scott Staples was noted down as the scorer. Southend held the ball, with a clear 82 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Palace player was without a doubt Amitrasudan Lalitha. Andy Young was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Southend player was without a doubt Kenny Lunde. However, Ronnie O'Hagan made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 5.

Maybe the tournament that was talked about could work on a friendlies basis.

E.g we get all the names of teams together and I draw them from a hat. This then makes up the pairings with a team getting home advantage.

Then we proceed onto the next round.

Or does Hattrick not allow you to play friendlies when the season is over?

You can play friendlies when the season is over but you only have 2 weeks of friendlies until the English Cup starts which has it's fixtures on a Tuesday. So not really worth it. If people are interested in reviving the Shrimperzone Challenge Cup then pls PM and if a enough interest I will set it up again this coming season, once everyone is out of the cup.

OK Thanks

Also, next season do we stay in the same division with the same teams as we have competed against this year? Or do we go into different leagues against other teams?

I'm definitely staying where I am.

But next season do we just stay in the same league with the same teams.

That's a strange concept they have going there ...

Well, I had a 6-0 win at home in front of my first ever Roots Hall sell out of 35,000...

In short, all is very well in the world of Southend United Football Club, not least because my star striker has finally turned solid in the experience stakes, which means that I can train him to become my coach once I've raised the cash.

To that end, there's a player sale going on down at Roots Hall... I've already got on sale the young equivalent of Dion Dublin, an 18 year old player who is (frankly) a snip at £50,000 (his current sale price):

Alex Tanner (32068332)
18 years, passable form, healthy
A nasty fellow who is temperamental and honest
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities.

Nationality: England
Assessed value: 45 333 £
Wage: 560 £/week
Owner: Southend United Football Club
Warnings: 0

Stamina: wretched Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: passable
Scoring: solid
  Set Pieces: wretched

Young Alex has played in a friendly for me last week, got 2.5* and scored a goal... I'd say that was a pretty tidy debut.

Next week, I'll be selling a 20 year old keeper who will (by then) have hopefully turned excellent (he'll be on the market at £245K or thereabouts), and a 21 year old solid keeper who will start at the bargain price of £80K.

So, keep your eyes peeled for player sales at Southend United Football Club!

As for the league, looks like I'll comfortably finish 2nd in the table - hopefully some 6 points ahead of the team who finished third (who were 2nd in the table, above me, last season).

If I finish 2nd, then this season will have seen me:

*Improve my league standing
*Increase my ground capacity to 35,000
*Increase fan club to over 1,300
*Bring in a solid coach with solid leadership

If I can do all that whilst keeping debts to manageable levels - hopefully under £200K - then I'll have had a damn good season, IMHO...

Not that I'm blowing my own trumpet, or anything...

Currently I'm not in any debt with my team.

Will I have to go into debt to advance out of Level 6 and become a bigger club?

You shouldn't need to get into debt to go from Level VI to Level V - but I don't know, since I was lucky enough to be given a Level V club to start off with.

You won't need to have to go into debt either if you have a fabulous youth pull, whom you sell for a lot of money.

The way to really progress in Hattrick is to have an excellent youth team, and to get a solid coach. Both of these are expensive.

The youth team is just a necessary evil in Hattrick - you just write off £13,333 every week in order to make your youth team as strong as possible. Because, of course, once it is "excellent", that's when you start making really good youth-pulls from it.

And with those, that's how you get a good team, or lots of revenue from sales. However, if you're to turn those youth pulls into good players quickly, you need a solid coach to do that.

Solid coaches don't come cheap. If you're bringing one in from outside, for example, a solid coach with passable leadership will cost you £1.2m, a solid coach with solid leadership about £1.7m.

I'm lucky, in that one of my players has solid leadership & solid experience, so I can make him my next coach. However, to train him up and make him a solid coach will cost me £530K - hence why, I imagine, I'll go into some debt by training him up.

I'm not in debt at the moment, I should add - I'm £32K in the black on this week's figures.

However, once the balancing act of selling players (which may raise £350-£400K) and training my coach (£530K) has been taken into account, I still reckon I'll be in the red this season.

However, it's a necessary evil which I'm prepared to accept, and which I'll be able to get out of reasonably quickly. After all, if I fill my stadium once a fortnight, I balance out my costs pretty quickly. On a fornightly basis:

Revenue: full stadium (35,000) - £155K
sponsors - £80K
TOTAL - £235K

Costs (arena, wages, staff, youth squad): £170K

So, on a fotnightly basis, I'm £65K in the black - which is why, I guess, I'm not too worried about going into a bit of debt in order to pay for my solid coach.

Incidentally, I first went in the red this season to expand my stadium, and that's one of the other things you'll need to do in order to progress... because, of course, the better your players are, the higher their wages get - and you can only pay for those wages if you're getting enough bums on seats in your stadium. So, I spent about £190K earlier this season expanding capacity to 35,000.

Having sold out last weekend, and getting £158K as a result... I can definitely say it's worth it!

Hope all that helps you in the economy stakes!

Matt

Bet you didn't read MtS' post. You gave up after the second paragraph didn't you?
No I actually read it all.

Unlike yourself my concentration span is slightly longer than that of a gnat.

They were very good points made, and made me change some of my approach to the game.
