Harry Cardwell

Very quick. Makes you wonder if it was that quick or it's been bubbling for a while.
Exactly my thoughts
They were probably in touch with his agent well before. The "anti-tapping up" regulation isn't worth the paper it's written on, and it goes on all the time.

Oh, and they probably immediately offered him a bigger salary than he's ever earned in his life, and way more than any other NL club would pay. There probably didn't need to be too much of a negotiation. FGR likely just go in high because they can.

Think he's let himself down as a move to a league club was possible if he had a good season with us.The loss for us is more to do with options as we have no similar threat in the air . His play never seemed to naturally link up with other forwards which would have taken him to another level. We have to hope there is a better replacement in the wings as this appears to be the first negative news since the takeover.Another Moncur type signing overnight would help!!

Gutted probably lost one of our best players

I cannot get posters on here saying we shouldn't moan.

Sorry we like any other football supporter we want promotion back to the Football league.

Always said no glory in Supporting Southend United FC two certainties being a Shrimper is dealth and disappointment...lol

Don't blame Cardwell as money talks and it's a short career.

It certainly used to be the case that release clauses could have conditions such as that clubs in the same league were excluded. As a poster said above, this situation was probably not envisaged.

Shame but onwards we go. I hope the whiteboard is being studied as we speak!

They need to get promoted and Barnet or Dagenham (both have deep pockets) and we hope that 2 penniless clubs get relegated from League 2.

And if Ecotricity ever come up as the cheapest on a switch it can go and get ****ed.

Hard to see Harry in Forest Green colours on there twitter page training with them! He'll get a good reception hopefully from us!

No fault of anyone as the release clause was needed for the contract to be signed, but gutting he’s gone for £120k. Should be more like £200k+.

Let’s hope Still’s got another gem up his sleeve.
