As soon as MacDonald and Harrold go you lot will be jumping up and down saying that we haven't got enough bodies in our squad, and what will happen when Barnard invariably gets injured as we'll be stuck with Walker and his dodgy heart which might give way any minute, Alex Revell who hasn't scored for us and has been injured for most of his Southend stint and Gary Hooper who can't replicate his Hereford form in a Southend shirt.

Charlie MacDonald is an ideal squad player. He knows his game, he can follow instructions and is exactly the type of player you want as a 4th choice striker. He won't have many starts, but he'll grab you a couple of goals and make a nuisance of himself as a sub.

If you want a 22 player+ squad you need to have players like Charlie MacDonald. You aren't going to get a better player come here to be the 4th or 5th choice forward.

If he doesn't want to be that type of player, he'll request a move, but we shouldn't be trying to off-load him like many want us to do (unless we want a smaller squad).

I get what you're saying. I think I'd just rather have Hooper as my 4th choice striker. He may not replicate his loan form for us, but he's still scored more league goals than Charlie Mac and offers more in the build up too, when he keeps it simple. He must have earned us our last four penalties.
