Well, if it was then this whole discussion is wasted as it's a 40 limit there, so he was never in danger doing 35....!

I was told or saw can't remember know, but a guy was doing 30 in a 30 zone. Nothing wrong there but a few days later he got a speeding ticket for doing 40 in a 30. Long story short, he went to court and asked for the speed gun that was 'used' on him. He asked the jury to point and aim it at the Judge, which they did and it clocked him doing 20mph sitting there!!

But sometimes the gun backfires.

This is apparantly a true story.

Coppers with the gun, pointing it at cars. Got a bit bored, as you do. An RAF fighter on some sort of training flies overhead, so they point the gun at the plane to see how far it is going. The gun can't cope and malfunctions.

What they don't realise is that the plane reads it as a something (ie a weapon) being locked on and the plane's missiles lock onto the gun. They were very lucky the pilot was aware to the situation and over rode it all.

I gather coppers involved had to pay for the replacement speed gun, which doesn't come cheap.


Anyway, back to the point. 9 points recently scrubbed from my licence. All of them thanks to speed cameras, two of them coz I wasn't thinking and the other coz I was driving like a dick.

The thing that gets me mad is with all the driving i do i constantly see police cars/bikes speeding sometime upwards of 100mph without any lights or sirens on. How come they get the privilige of speeding for no reason?

Because in their world, they are above the law...........they are the Police for crying out loud, they can do what ever they want to, inside or outside of the law.

I got stopped about 6 weeks ago doing 118 in an 80 on the way home from footie.Said to my mate there is a car catching up to me must be going bloody quick.Just after that on went the flashing lights.If the cop caught me 2 miles earlier he would of taken my licence away under the new boy racer law because I would of been doing 40 over the limit. fine was $298 and 6 demerit points. I went to a first offence hearing where the prosecutor offered me a deal of $118 and only 3 points.

Because the Police do not neccessarily have to uses blue lights/sirens to respond to an emergency. Yes it's best practice, but in some cases, the silent approach is safer. I'm not saying every time a police car overtakes you without them on they are going to an emergency per se, but you hopefully get my point. If you were on the outside lane of a motorway and overtook a police car by doing 75, you'd be very unlucky if the rozzers even batted an eyelid..

See now, I read that as you slagging off the Police. Fine, you are entitled to do that, but that's a bit hypocritical considering the praise you gave them when you reported your flag stolen from Stanford Bridge earlier this year.......
