HAMMELL.......

BRICKTOP

Youth Team
Seriously what does he contribuite to our defending ?? gets caught out time and time again....what did cheese ever do wrong to be dropped from a double promotion winning side....??? surely the guy deserves a chance, re-instate him quick !! would we have ever conceeded this many goals with him at the back begs the question ??

Might as well give him a chance, he couldn't do much worse could he?

Also, about time we had some sort of multi-ball system with our ball boys or at least have balls ready for when they get kicked out of the ground. It takes ages for us to take some throw on's & goal kicks we have got to speed things up a bit at times.

I agree, the whole reason we are bottom of the league and conceding so many goals is because our weakest player of the last two seasons isnt playing.

Thought it was Paynter, but we dropped him, then thought it was Clarke, but he isnt in defence anymore. Thought it was because Sodje wasnt playing, yet his much heralded return didnt solve everything.

We need Che!

Bring back Pettefer!

As a Scot, people will say I'm biased, but Hammell is Southend's best player this season according to active-index ratings.

I'd put Freddy top myself.

The new boys seem to be getting the blame for Southend's defeats this season. First it was Paynter, then Francis, then Clarke, now Hammell, but I don't think this is particularly fair, as many of our old guard haven't performed at this level.

I was saying this weeks and weeks ago! I got shot down in flames by the majority and the clique!

He's just not up to Championship class.

Tilson has made some very bad buys for this league.

great going forward with a sweet left whipping cross, so maybe try him on left wing since we let our other natural left footer out on loan.....and playing well by all accounts !!! then push cheese man back into the defensive roal and gower out to the right !!!

Hammell does overlap well (although we always cut inside when he does), but I don't know if he has the pace for left wing. He certainly doesn’t try and beat players very often.

Incidentally, Motherwell fans were pretty gutted when they lost him. My other team is Celtic so I follow the SPL quite closely.

Indeed.

If Tilson hadnt bought those players and we had Wilson, Jupp and Wayne Gray I am certain we would be doing worse than we are now and he would be getting slaughtered for not buying anyone.

Hammell is better than Wilson
Francis better than Jupp
Paynter is , er, well Gray wasnt very good either.

Spoke to Che after the game clique alert and he said he is fully fit, and is disapointed not to be playing - but is the opinion of the manager.

He would also like to finally play at right-back, bearing in mind he has been at the club three and a half years, and has still not played there...

Oh and Hammell is so so one footed!

Least Che is good with both feet.

Most of this crap Tilly has purchased are on 3 year contracts, oh god! We have to put up with them for that long!

f%&k it, give Che a go, he can't do any worse than Hunt tonight, he was awful and was solely to blame for Hull's first.

You'll be pleased to know that I can't see Hammell staying if we get relegated (given the offers he had before he signed with us).

Tilly knows this which is the main thing, but try telling that to the Southend fans who remember our glorious victories over the mighty Bournemouth etc.

Our glorious victories over the mighty Bournemouth etc will be as well remembered as all our recent inglorious defeats against the mighty Hull City etc!!

Lets hope, as you say, that Tilly also knows this...

Shrimperboy - strange that Motherwell fans were not happy to lose Hammell yet admitted that he couldn't defend. They are obviously the same as most football fans who like to see full-backs get forward and consider defending of secondary importance.

I dont doubt anything you have said here, I saw Che chatting to a couple of guys in the far post bar after the game, maybe this was you..?

What seems strange though is he says he is fully fit and yet the official site yesterday reports he has suffered a recurrence of an old injury and is therefore unfit?!

You have it from the horses mouth so to speak that he is fit. I am therefore inclined to think this is the case. So what is going on here....??
