Gower

I remember reading that he slipped a disk in his back in our League One winning season which is obviously a very serious injury and one that I doubt you can just get over.

For what it's worth I still think he's the best player at the club.

He'd be by far and away the hardest player to replace out of the current squad.

I'm hoping the G man was injured, we can't afford to let players of his quality leave. As a previous poster said he has that bit of quality to spin a game on it's head.

Presumably picked up carrying the hefty weight of expectation from some supporters over the past four or so seasons?

Even though this season he has not enjoyed the fine form exhibited in the Coca-Cola Championship, or indeed prior to that, he has still managed some pretty special moments, including the last-minute winner against Swindon and the goal at Forest.

I was very fortunate to be able to interview Gower early in his second season at the club. I asked him how he felt when supporters criticised him for being lazy. He explained that on many occasions he has taken to the field when not fully fit, and he has not physically been able to produce what he does on occasion on a regular basis. I guess that that is why he was allowed to leave Spurs, and why he's now playing in League One. He remains one of very few at Roots Hall who can genuinely turn a game on it's head in an instant.

totally agree if Gower has a magic game then we're in for another two bad ones, his ability to regain his physical energy after a good solid game is probably what stopped his tottering career, but bare in mind that most of the good players outside of the Prem suffer from this too, so he's not alone.
Heard a rumour Sheff Wed are after him hope it's not true
Onto the storming out I could poss believe that as I tried to get him to sign my shirt after the Bristol City win and he just ignored me and pushed past me grumbling and that was a day of celebrations!

gower does have a few dodgy matches here and there but if we lost him i agree that he would be the hardest to replace. all of our attacks come from the left and we've seen what we are like without him.

Trouble is, when Gower has a bad game it really does affect everyone else because he is such a major creative force within the team. He started the season out of sorts then hit form for a while, got injured (or did his back in) and just hasn't looked right since. Sounds to me it could be an aggravation of an existing problem in which case it could be that Scannell is handed a first team start sooner than might have been expected.

Have no idea if he is injured or not or why he was not present tonight but had a whisper that he alledgedly let rip on Ron Martin following the dressing room dressing down and stormed out of the hall. Also, RM apparently turned up at all this weeks training sessions. I am sure none of this is true but interesting none the less.

The last time I heard, he had a slight injury, he may still have the injury? But im not certain
