Echo News Goalkeeper coach Anssi says Blues are in safe hands this season

Not sure harness can be judged on that. Don’t think he could do much with the goals. A bit rash in injury time where he flew off his line and a couple of awful goal kicks, but he didn’t really have lots to do.

In terms of why did he start, I wonder if there was something in his contract that he had to play the first game. No problem we would have thought when desperate on Wednesday.
His reputation speaks for itself, he’s dog ****.

Seriously?! I thought he was dreadful, rooted to his line for the first goal for a free header from about 2 yards. Every set piece after he was bullied by Barnet’s players too and stayed stuck on his line, I thought Collin was too timid but this guy took the biscuit!

Harness was absolutely awful, surely there must be better ‘keepers available. Rooted to his line (except for that tackle near the end which he could have easily seen red for!), bullied at set pieces and it looked like he jumped over the ball for the third goal and let it go through his legs.

I had information from someone who has coached him that he is prone to awful mistakes - I wanted to see him in action before saying anything but that person was 100% correct.

He was like a 15 y/o in a man’s game.
Collin has got to come back in. Kev might have to admit that it isn’t an injury and just the fact that his judgment is wrong, again and again and again!

Collin looked ok to me when he was warming up, it seems Maher is too eager to leave him out. Harness looks inferior, as did Jeacock. Even worse than these was Blondy a couple of years ago who was dreadful, yet he had an extended run in the side.

I think Collin is one the best keepers in the NL. However it is not easy to benchmark as most visiting goalkeepers at Roots Hall have nothing to do! It shouldn’t be forgotten it was Tilly who recommended Collin and he joined before the current management team arrived.

I don’t know about Justham —I haven’t seen him recently—some say he’s been performing indifferently but I do know we should have chosen and signed a second keeper at the start of the season, preferably an experienced, and ,of course, reliable one
Apart from that,in my opinion most of the players we have are more than capable of playing well at this level—the trouble is Maher can’t manage tactics and is not able to use them effectively—the most obvious examples being Moncur and Bonne.

Kev constantly berates Collin during matches but seems ok with his replacements making costly mistakes. Maybe Collin wasn't well enough to play yesterday, I don't know.
He was well enough to play a full part in the warm ups! Another bad decision from Kev IMO.

Surprised to see so many people think so little of Jeacock. I thought he looked to have something and the fact he’s currently playing in League 1 would suggest he isn’t as bad as some would say.

His percentage shots faced saved is down from 70.3% to 63.8%.

His errors leading to a shot are up from 6 in 33 last season to 9 in 23 this season.

His number of interceptions per 90 is down from 2.2 to 1.8.

His number of ball recoveries per 90 is down from 5.3 to 4.9.

Clean sheets is the only stat where he’s actually doing any better.
Where can you find all these stats?

I have no issue with the result and thought 0-3 was a fair reflection of the match. Still, I reckon a fit Collin would have kept out at least 2 of their goals.

The first goal was a free header from between the posts, inside the 6-yard box. That should never happen. Golding needs to take his portion of the blame too, for being swept aside like a rag doll.

Second goal, agree wasn’t much he could do.

Third goal, again, Golding brushed aside to leave their man with a free pop. Harness seemed to jump over the downward header, but he’d already committed to making himself as big as he could, so it might be harsh to blame him for that one, when on another day he gambles right and makes a great “reaction” save.
